Itinerary
- Day 1
Merano
You'll arrive individually in Merano and have the day to get settled. Spend your time walking through the town's quiet alleyways lined with trees, and don't miss the Passer promenade where you can relax by the water. It's a nice introduction to this spa town before heading out on the hiking days ahead. One night here.

Merano to Nals
This is a longer hiking day covering about 19km over 5.5 hours. You'll start along the Marlinger Waalweg, an old irrigation channel that winds through deciduous forests and chestnut groves on your way to Lana. From there, the route takes you through castle country, passing by Stachelburg, Schwanburg, and Payrsberg before finishing in Nals. You'll gain 550m elevation and lose the same amount, so it's a solid day of hiking.

- Day 3
Nals to Bolzano
Today you're tackling the Three Castles Route on high-altitude paths with nice views of vineyards and the Dolomites around you. You'll pass through Eppan, a wine-growing village in the area. After the hike, a bus takes you down to Bolzano where you can grab a cappuccino and watch people go by at Piazza Walther in the city center. One night in Bolzano.

Bolzano to Mölten
After an early bus ride to Jenesien, you'll hike across open meadows where you might see horses and cows grazing. The path moves through sparse larch forests, and from up there you'll see Lake Kaltern, the Wine Road castles, and Dolomite cliffs in the distance. By evening you'll arrive in Mölten village, which sits on the Tschöggel plateau. Two nights in Mölten.

Mölten
This is a circular route starting from Mölten that takes you through flower-filled meadows, fragrant larch forests, and alpine pastures to Steinerne Mandln. From there you get views of Rosengarten and surrounding mountain peaks. If you want to take it easier partway through, there's an optional stop at Moltner Kaser hut where you can try traditional dumplings and rest a bit.

Mölten to Merano
On your final hiking day, you'll walk through meadows and forests to Knottnkino, which has three open-air viewpoints worth the climb. The route then follows rocky Knottn peaks down to Hafling, a town known for its horse breed. A bus takes you back down to Merano where you can visit Trauttmansdorff Castle gardens and walk around the town center. One night in Merano.
