- DEDarren· August 26th, 2024I travelled with Jonathan on the Costa Rica and Panama discovery trip with Intrepid in August 24. I really enjoyed the trip and the destinations we visited. It was a great mix of wildlife, rainforest, beach areas and city life for us to experience different cultures. Some of my highlights included Boca Del Toros and the boat trips and being able to spend time relaxing on lovely beaches and enjoy warm seas. The local cooking experience and stop in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca was also great fun.I also enjoyed the visit to the Panama Canal which was really interesting. Jonathan was super organised and helpful to the whole group, was happy to be flexible and change daily itineraries to give us more (or less ) time at places depending on what the group wanted and could not have done more to help the group have an awesome experience. The cons: This tour should be fully guided, not partially guided so the whole group stays together. I have never seen a group so divided, Partially guided tours create cliques. Also, days should start earlier than 8:50am. - Raymond· December 14th, 2022The leader strove to contend with unexpected conditions such as altering travel due road closures etc. adequately. This trip is "bare bones." Virtually all excursions and meals are additional. Lodging was frequently noisy (eg: party hostels) and quite basic. Expect long travel days (5-9 hr) in basic public transport. The trip requires a degree of fitness to traverse gaps such as climbing aboard boats; walking over rough terrain and carrying one's own luggage several hundred meters and up and down stairs.
