Trier
Your journey begins when you arrive in Trier, one of Germany's oldest cities with over 2000 years of history layered throughout. You'll take a round trip through the city center to see key Roman sites like the Porta Nigra gate, the Roman amphitheater, and the Imperial Baths. After spending the day walking through these landmarks, you'll head to a traditional wine tavern in the evening where you can try local Riesling and reflect on what you've seen.

Trittenheim to Zeltingen or Bernkastel-Kues
This morning you'll start cycling along the Moselle River banks, beginning from Trittenheim and crossing one of the region's oldest bridges. You'll ride uphill into the vineyards for views across the Moselle Valley, then pass through Neumagen-Dhron (Germany's oldest wine village) before reaching Piesport. There you can visit a restored 4th-century Roman cellar. Your overnight stop is in either Zeltingen or Bernkastel-Kues, both towns known for their half-timbered houses and quiet streets.

Bernkastel-Kues to Zell to Cochem
Start by walking through Bernkastel-Kues's cobblestone streets and checking out its wine taverns, then head to Zeltingen to see the baroque architecture. From there, cycling continues to Zell where you'll see the Moselle loop with Marienburg castle watching over 900 years of history. You'll pass by the Calmont, which is Europe's steepest vineyard, and keep riding until you reach Cochem with its grand Reichsburg castle rising above the river.

Moselkern to Koblenz
You'll cycle through Moselkern with time to visit Eltz Castle, a medieval fortress that looks like something from a fairy tale. After that, you'll pedal through Kobern-Gondorf with its half-timbered buildings, then continue between the Moselle River and vineyards toward Winningen. Later you'll reach Koblenz where the Moselle meets the Rhine at Deutsches Eck. From there, take the cable car up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress (this is included) for views back down the rivers, then spend time exploring Koblenz's historic sites.
