I was wondering how long you stop at the major cites (especially the major waterfalls). For example, at Detifoss, is there enough time to see Selfoss. Is there enough time to climb the stairs at Skógafoss or to see the companion waterfall at Seljalandsfoss. All of these things could be done easily with a stop of an hour or so, but not with a 20 minute photo stop. Also, I read many reviews regarding logistics problems with the hotel stays between the 6 day main trip and the 2 one day tours. Have they been worked out?

Usually between 30 to 40 minutes, but this will be confirmed by the guide during the tour. Everything for the 8-day tour is good, yes.

Does the tour start and end in Reykjavik and include the following? 1) Reykjavik 2) Golden circle 3) Blue lagoon 4) South coast - Skagafoss waterfall 5) Jokulsarlon Glacier 6) Diamond beach 7) Snaefellsness? No adventure, No hiking.

The tour covers everything except Blue Lagoon. As an extra activity, you can actually add another 2 lagoons, one in the east: Vök baths, and one in the north: Forest Lagoon. The tour does include a hiking of about 2 hours at Landmannalaugar, easy hike.

Will there be a special viewing for the solar eclipse on August 12 th?

The tour is divided into 3 parts: - 6 Day Ring Road - Snæfellsnes Peninsula - Landmannalaugar Hike Depending on our operational adjustments, we might follow this exact order, meaning that on the 12th of August we will be in North of Iceland. I am afraid that the total eclipse won't be visible on this side of the island. This eclipse map of Iceland highlights the best locations for the 2026 total solar eclipse. The dark blue line marks the eastern limit of totality, everything west of it will experience total darkness, while the rest of Iceland will see only a partial eclipse. The Westfjords, Snæfellsnes, and Reykjanes Peninsula are prime viewing spots, with the central eclipse line just offshore.

Unfortunately, no, we don't pick up or drop off at the airport. The meeting point and drop off location has to be in reykjavik city area.

Looking at the itenerary for the 8 day trip Sept 8-14. It says the pickup is at a bus stop. For the trip I am looking at I would arrive at the airport around 6:00am on the 8th. Is it up to me to find the bus stop or would there be a shuttle from the airport to the meeting point that is handled by you?

We strongly advise you to arrive a day before. This is to avoid any stressful situation such as flight disruptions. In case you still want to go ahead with the arrival on the same day of your trip, you will need to be ready at 08:00 from BSI Bus Terminal, that would be the best location for you as you would need to get from airport to Reykjav\u00edk either by taxi or shuttle.

I am confused about which tour to go on.

Are the 7 Day Iceland Ring Road and Snaefellsnes - 8 Day Summer Iceland and Ring Road and Landmannalaugar basically the same with the Landmannalaugar site added on? I'm a 63 year old male solo traveler willing to share a room with another solo traveler, looking for an immersive nature experience, wildlife, whale watch, and daily breakfast. I am wondering what the nature, age, vibes of the groups tend to be.

The main difference between these tours is exactly the Landmannalaugar tour on the 8-Day Summer Iceland Ring Road & Landmannalaugar Highland Small Group Tour. Activities like Whale Watching are an add-on, such as Vok Baths, and the Ice Cave experience, but we can add these experiences to your booking if you like. These tours are run on a small group tour, with a maximum of 15 - 19 persons per departure, and the accomodation will included breakfast, and you may have to share a room if you don't want to add the single room supplement. On these excursions, we welcome people aged 20 to 63 or older, providing a personalized experience for different age groups.

How challenging is the volcano hike on day 8 (as this changes the grading of the 7 day trip from easy to medium)? I have good general fitness but not great with steep ascents etc. In your opinion is the volcano hike a must as this is the main difference between 7 and 8 day trips

The hike is not really difficult and we always go to trails that can be done by everyone. However, you will need to be ready for short elevation (if necessary), and you will be walking on uneven gravel paths as well. It is always a good experience to visit the area that has been active the past 3 years with several eruptions. We count already 13 eruptions. While there is no active eruption right now, you will be able to see the lava fields and in some places you might be able to see smoke coming from the fields.

I wasn't able to participate for most of the 6-day Golden Circle Tour because I had a serious fall on Vik beach and broke my humerus. I was stuck in the airport hotel in Reykjavik for five days before I could be medically repatriated back to Edinburgh, so I missed most of the tour and I've been told that I will get no compensation for that despite the fact that I didn't do the vok baths or the ice cave nor did I use the extra three nights accommodation that I had booked. So it was a very very expensive trip for nothing.Show more

This tour hit all the same spots as other tour buses so the value is spot on. Iceland is simply beautiful in terms of the views, the canyons, the geothermal formations and other otherworldly atmosphere. The tour guide did a good job driving and keeping us safe. I was picked up at a bus stop close to my hotel I booked a day before the tour. At times, I wished I had more time to visit some places, etc; sometimes i had 30 mins to 1 hour to see everything. Due to Iceland's unpredictable weather, we had an incident where some activities were cancelled due to ice/snow on the road. Often times we were grabbing food on the go because I had to juggle sightseeing, using the restroom and having a meal. I went in last week of may to 1st week of july; the weather was snowy, sunny, and rainy so pack the rain pants. The reason why I gave 4 stars is my last day was cancelled due to weather. The breakfasts at most hotels (meats, veggies, fruit and even dessert) except for the last one (Hotel Cabin) were truly exceptional. The hotels selected are pretty desolate in terms of location but maybe that's how iceland is? Also, if you're going in late may, be prepared for like 18 hours of daylight to like 20 hours in June.Show more

For clarity, the 8 day trip is the 6 day trip with 2 single days tacked on. Four of the 15 people on the bus for the 6 day tour had purchased the 8 day tour. My recommendation is to book a 6 day tour to start, and then choose rather than be allocated 2 other day trips to ensure you get what interests you. Day 1 (of 8) at Snaefellsness peninsula was worthwhile but covered a lot of ground so we got back late (after 10pm) to the hotel provided as part of the tour to find it is unattended and we had to check in by phone to get entry codes. The rooms were noisy and hot and it was a half hour walk to central Reykjavik. We had no dinner. This would not have been a problem if we didn’t have a very early pick up the next day. The guide, Sigi, was excellent and provided a lot of interesting commentary about Iceland and life there. Breakfast provided at this hotel as part of the tour was available at 7am and we were picked up at 7am to go to Landmannalaugar so no breakfast either. The bus for this trip was old and not very comfortable and my seatbelt was not working properly so not really safe. We eventually got some lunch after the 5km hike from the 2 converted buses that were selling limited items. The roads are terrible and it is a long way. I don’t recommend this trip. The bus for the 6 day trip was very comfortable. There is an element of luck of the draw as to when you get picked up and we 4 were last. Inevitably we were at the back of the bus and places stuck throughout. Our guide, Thor was very good and the itinerary overall is very good too.Show more

I was wondering how long you stop at the major cites (especially the major waterfalls). For example, at Detifoss, is there enough time to see Selfoss. Is there enough time to climb the stairs at Skógafoss or to see the companion waterfall at Seljalandsfoss. All of these things could be done easily with a stop of an hour or so, but not with a 20 minute photo stop. Also, I read many reviews regarding logistics problems with the hotel stays between the 6 day main trip and the 2 one day tours. Have they been worked out?

  Depending on our operational adjustments, we might follow this exact order, meaning that on the 12th of August we will be in North of Iceland. I am afraid that the total eclipse won't be visible on this side of the island.
  
  This eclipse map of Iceland highlights the best locations for the 2026 total solar eclipse. The dark blue line marks the eastern limit of totality, everything west of it will experience total darkness, while the rest of Iceland will see only a partial eclipse.
  The Westfjords, Snæfellsnes, and Reykjanes Peninsula are prime viewing spots, with the central eclipse line just offshore.

Looking at the itenerary for the 8 day trip Sept 8-14. It says the pickup is at a bus stop. For the trip I am looking at I would arrive at the airport around 6:00am on the 8th. Is it up to me to find the bus stop or would there be a shuttle from the airport to the meeting point that is handled by you?

Are the 7 Day Iceland Ring Road and Snaefellsnes - 8 Day Summer Iceland and Ring Road and Landmannalaugar basically the same with the Landmannalaugar site added on? I'm a 63 year old male solo traveler willing to share a room with another solo traveler, looking for an immersive nature experience, wildlife, whale watch, and daily breakfast. How challenging is the volcano hike on day 8 (as this changes the grading of the 7 day trip from easy to medium)? I have good general fitness but not great with steep ascents etc. In your opinion is the volcano hike a must as this is the main difference between 7 and 8 day trips

  The hike is not really difficult and we always go to trails that can be done by everyone. However, you will need to be ready for short elevation (if necessary), and you will be walking on uneven gravel paths as well. It is always a good experience to visit the area that has been active the past 3 years with several eruptions. We count already 13 eruptions. While there is no active eruption right now, you will be able to see the lava fields and in some places you might be able to see smoke coming from the fields.
