Itinerary
- Day 1
South Bali to Bedugul to North Coast
After your hotel pickup in South Bali, you'll head up into Bedugul's cooler mountain area. The first stop is Pura Ulun Danu temple, which sits right on Lake Bratan's shore and gives you some great views across the water. From an old volcano crater, you can see both Tamblingan and Buyan Lakes spread out below. Later, you'll get to try local coffee and fried bananas at a small spot there. Then it's time to hike down to Banyumala Twin Waterfall, which takes some effort but the payoff is worth it. After that, you'll drive through plantations on your way heading toward the north coast.

After returning to shore, you'll check out from your hotel and catch a public ferry across to Ketapang in East Java, which actually puts you into a different time zone. Once you've checked into your new place, grab a typical Javanese lunch at a local restaurant. Later in the afternoon, head to Bama Beach to swim or just relax for a bit, then finish the day at Bekol Savanah in Baluran National Park where you can watch wildlife and catch the sunset.

This one starts early with an off-road vehicle ride to Paltuding base camp, where you'll see rice fields and get a look at how local farmers work the land traditionally. From there, you'll hike up to Mount Ijen's summit at 2,385 m, where you'll find a large crater lake with acidic, milky-blue water surrounded by active sulphur mines. You'll see the sulphur miners going about their work and take in the views from up there. The hike back down takes time, so once you're back at your hotel, you'll have a leisurely afternoon to rest and recover.
