Puerto Montt to Petrohué
You'll pick up your rental car at Puerto Montt airport and head towards Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. The drive gives you nice views of Lake Llanquihue and the volcanoes surrounding it. By evening, you'll settle in at Petrohué Lodge, which sits at the base of Osorno volcano.

Petrohué
This day is yours to spend however you like in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. The hotel offers optional activities if you're interested, so you could try rafting, kayaking, or fishing on the lake. Hiking is another option if that appeals to you more.

Petrohué to Hornopirén
Head south on the Carretera Austral, driving past the Reloncaví Fjord and through river valleys and forests. You'll pass by the Petrhué, Cochamó, and Puelo rivers along the way before arriving in Hornopirén by evening.

Hornopirén to Caleta Gonzalo
In the morning, board a ferry through the Cholgo Canal and the Comau Fjord to reach Leptepu. After a short 10-minute drive, you'll take another ferry to Caleta Gonzalo. The total time on the water is about 5 hours.

Puyuhuapi
Spend time in Puyuhuapi, a small town founded in 1935 where you can still see evidence of German settlement. Then check out Queulat National Park, which covers about 1,540 square kilometers and has snow-capped mountains and evergreen forests.

Lago General Carrera to Lago Posadas
You'll cross into Argentina today and head west. The drive takes you along the Baker River through the Chacabuco Valley, which isn't well-known but has diverse plant and animal life. Watch for guanacos and flamingos as you travel, and end the day near Lago Posadas.
