Optional Activities
- Option 1 - Highlights of Snaefellsnes Peninsula (7 hours including lunch): Visit Mount Kirkjufell, explore Snaefellsjökull National Park hiking trails, visit black pebble beach of Djúpalónssandur with shipwreck remains, explore Búðir hamlet and Búðakirkja church. Moderately paced, uneven terrain with some steps and accents/descents.
- Option 2 - Coastal Trails & Lava Caves (7 hours including lunch): Visit Mount Kirkjufell, explore 8,000-year-old Vatnshellir Cave with helmet and headlamp, hike 3.4km/2.1 miles across lava fields to view rainbow-coloured volcanic rocks 35 meters beneath surface, hike coastal trail between Arnarstapi and Hellnar viewing columnar basalt and bird species. Comprehensive difficulty, requires good mobility and sturdy footwear.
- Option 3 - Land of Fire Hiking (7 hours including lunch): Hike to Eldborg crater (6.64km/4.12 miles with moderate difficulty), explore Gerduberg hexagonal basalt columns spanning 500 metres, visit Pufubjarg bird cliff with nesting puffins and fulmars, hike to Londrangar basalt cliffs, explore lighthouse and beach at Malarrif. Active level, requires good fitness and sturdy footwear.
