Itinerary
- Day 1
Riad to Merzouga Desert
Early morning pickup from your Riad kicks off the journey toward Merzouga Desert. You'll drive through Ifrane first, where the Swiss-style architecture creates an interesting contrast with the surrounding landscape. From there, head into the cedar forests around Azrou to look for Barbary apes in their natural habitat. Stop in Midelt around lunch time to grab food and stretch your legs. The route then takes you through the scenic Ziz Valley with its oases before reaching Erfoud. Later in the afternoon, you'll arrive at the Erg Chebbi dunes for a camel ride out to a desert camp. By evening, there's a traditional music performance around the fire where you can relax after the long day of travel.

- Day 2
Merzouga Desert
Spend the full day exploring what the Merzouga Desert and Erg Chebbi dunes have to offer. Start by visiting a Nomad's tent for traditional tea and conversation with local people. Then check out Mfis village and its historic coal mines to see how they've shaped the area. Head over to Khamlia village where you can experience Gnaoua music and learn about the village's distinctive background. After lunch at a local Berber pizza restaurant, visit a seasonal desert lake that attracts flamingos and other desert birds. If you're interested, there are optional desert sports available. You'll head back to your hotel in the evening.

- Day 3
Merzouga Desert to Fes
Start early with a sunrise hike to the tallest sand dune near camp, then have breakfast. From there, drive north toward Fes, making a stop in Rissani to wander through the bustling Souq where locals sell dates, vegetables, and other goods. Pass through the Ziz Oases, where you'll see dramatic palm groves lining the Ziz Valley. Cross through the Ziz Gorges and stop in Midelt for lunch. After eating, continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains and visit the cedar forest to spot Barbary apes. Explore Ifrane with its European-style architecture and tree-lined streets. Finally, arrive in Fes and get dropped off at your Riad in the old city.
