    Nicole

    Asked on March 23rd, 2026

Can you please advise if an upgrade on VIA Rail is available and provide the quote?

    Price / Availability
    Transport
    • TourlandOperatorWritten March 2026

Unfortunately, the sleeper berth on your preferred tour date is sold out. The nearest available dates are September 5 or September 16, with an upgrade fee of CAD $1,875 for two travelers.

Sleeper berths are assigned directly by the system, and only a few spots remain. Please note that they may be located in different cars, and you may not be able to meet each other onboard. Kindly note that prices are subject to change, and sleeper berths are very popular and may sell out soon.

  • G

    Gina

    Asked on March 3rd, 2026

Could you please provide more information on the itinerary, inclusions, and accommodation, particularly regarding the sleeper train upgrade? Additionally, it would be great if you could highlight the key differences compared to your 5-day rail adventure tour.

Option 1: Tour 270585 — "7-Day West Canada Tour: Vancouver & Rockies with VIA Railway | Departure from Vancouver"
This itinerary combines city highlights + Vancouver Island + the Rockies. It includes a guided Vancouver city tour, a full day trip Vancouver–Victoria–Vancouver (including BC Ferries, Butchart Gardens, and time in Victoria Downtown), and then continues onward by VIA Rail to the Rockies. It's ideal if you'd like to see more of the West Coast before heading into the mountains, and you prefer a more guided start with hotel pick-up options.

Option 2: Tour 216748 — "5-Day Vancouver to Rockies VIA Rail Adventure"
This is the shorter, more direct Rockies-focused version. It starts immediately with VIA Rail from Vancouver to Jasper, with self-arranged arrival and check-in at Vancouver Pacific Central Station (no Vancouver/Victoria sightseeing included). From Jasper onward, it covers the key Rockies highlights (e.g., Maligne Lake/Canyon, Icefields Parkway, Columbia Icefield optional, Lake Louise, Yoho, and Banff). It's best if your priority is to get to the Rockies faster, and you don't need the extra West Coast sightseeing.

      The most important takeaways:
      - 270585 (7 days) = Vancouver city + Victoria/Butchart Gardens + Rockies (more variety, more inclusions, more guided start).
      - 216748 (5 days) = Rockies-first (shorter, faster pace, no Vancouver/Victoria touring; starts with self-arranged train station check-in).

    • TourlandOperatorWritten March 2026

The main difference between the 5-day and 7-day tours is that the 7-day tour includes exploration of Vancouver and Victoria during the first two days. As the tours that include the VIA Rail experience are very popular, please let us know your preferred departure date so we can check availability and the sleeper berth upgrade fee for you as soon as possible.

    • TourlandOperatorWritten February 2026

For Sleeper upgrade, both the 7-day tour and the 5-day train tour the current upgrade fee is: option-1 : Sleeper Berth upgrade for 2 persons: cad$1486 (sleeper berths are assigned by the railway system and may be allocated as either an upper berth or a lower berth.) option-2 : Private cabin upgrade for 2 persons: cad$2698. The Sleeper Berth class includes dinner and breakfast. Please note that pricing is dynamic and subject to availability.

      TravelerWritten February 2026

Can you also please confirm that a sleeper berth is available for the train ride to Jasper.

    • TourlandOperatorWritten February 2026

For the first day of the Vancouver 1-Day Tour, the closest meeting point to the cruise terminal is: Chinatown | 139A Keefer St, Vancouver (Chinatown Memorial Plaza). Meeting time: 9:00 AM. However, considering the time needed for disembarkation and customs clearance after your cruise, it may be difficult to arrive by 9:00 AM. We suggest that you join the tour around lunchtime instead. The group is scheduled to stop at Canada Place (near the cruise terminal) for lunch, so you may join the tour there at that time.

    • TourlandOperatorWritten February 2026

For the VIA upgrade, the current fee is CAD$2600 for 3 person. Please note that pricing is dynamic and subject to availability. As summer departures are very popular and space is limited, we recommend confirming as soon as possible. If the price remains unchanged at the time of booking, we will proceed with confirming the upgrade for you directly.

ok, and the ability to get double queen beds for the hotels?

    • TourlandOperatorWritten February 2026

Regarding hotel bedding, room types typically include either two double beds, or one double bed with a sofa bed, depending on hotel availability. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee two queen beds.

If additional space or specific bedding arrangements are important for your stay, we would recommend considering booking two separate rooms to ensure greater comfort.

Can may family and i stay in Banff and find our way back to Calgary on our own a few days later? Can i get the full itinereray for the very last day?

    Accommodation
    Tour Details
    • TourlandOperatorWritten January 2026

Unfortunately, the September 9th departure is fully sold out and cannot accommodate additional spots. The nearest available dates are September 5th or 12th, and we would be very happy to welcome you on either of these departures.

Regarding your inquiry about the VIA train, the popular option is the sleeper berth upgrade. We have checked, and sleeper berths for these two departure dates are still available at a total of CAD$3,900 for 5 adults. Please note that this price is subject to change, and accommodations may be split between two different cars on the train.
Additionally, if you would like to extend your stay in Banff and return to Calgary on your own, that is absolutely possible. The price for a one-night post-stay in Banff is CAD$640 per double room and CAD$674 per triple room. Shuttle transfer back to Calgary and breakfast are not included. We would also be happy to provide a quote for a one-way shuttle at CAD$98 per adult.

Finally, on the last day, we will visit the must-see spots around Banff National Park. Our tour guide will pick you up at approximately 9:35 AM from your hotel lobby, and the tour will normally end between 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM if you stay in Banff.

Is it possible to upgrade the hotel and stay at the Banff Fairmont during our tour instead of the hotel that is currently included

    • TourlandOperatorWritten January 2026

Regarding the route arrangement, we are only able to offer a one-night upgrade at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which is the most iconic hotel in the area. The upgrade fee is CAD$990 + 5% GST for a double room and CAD$1,350 + 5% GST for a triple room. Please note that this upgrade is subject to availability.

We recommend considering a combination tour that includes both train and bus travel, allowing you to experience different parts of the Rockies from unique perspectives. We would like to introduce two different train options available in Western Canada: 1. Rocky Mountaineer Train, 2. VIA Rail. You will spend one night at VIA train in an economy seat. If you would like to upgrade to a sleeper berth, the upgrade fee is CAD$1,710 for two adults.
