Asked on September 18th, 2025is it possible to upgrade to 4 star hotels? Also, what is the typical size of this group. I am looking for less than 10 people.
The Dragon TripOperator•Written September 2025The hotels are are clean, comfortable, and well located. Whilst they are listed as 3*, in Japan they have a high standard and these can feel more like 4* hotels. The group size can vary for each departure date, but the maximum group size is around 14 people. However, looking at the group sizes in 2025 they were smaller in size: - 17-March-25 - we had a group of 7 - 31-March-25 - we had a group of 5. Travelling in April (peak season) we saw larger groups. Whilst we can't guarantee a specific group size, you do tend to see smaller groups on this tour outside of the peak seasons, which is nice.

Asked on September 2nd, 2025How much is needed to reserve the tour, and when would the payment be due? Is it possible to book it now and pay the balance after September 26, is it possible?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written September 2025We require a 10% deposit with the remaining amount due 70 days before your trip departure date. It's possible to set up an instalment plan so that you can pay back the trip on a monthly basis.
- J
Joel
Traveler•Written September 2025We are planning to go this November 2025. That's why we are asking if possible to pay the balance due after September 26th, 2025
The Dragon TripOperator•Written September 2025For the 3rd November 2025 departure, we would need full payment because it's less than 70 days until departure. We need the funds to make booking arrangements. If you need to wait until 26th September to pay, you can wait, but we can't guarantee you a space on the trip without full payment.

Asked on August 11th, 2025Is your tour company based in which country? Is this package price commissionable or net? How can I contact directly?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written August 2025We're based in the UK, but have offices internationally. The prices advertised on TourRadar are retail rates. You can contact us through this booking portal. We would need to check availability for the 15th September 2025 trip.

Asked on July 16th, 2025Can you please confirm what types of hotels would be booked on this tour? Can you confirm if they will be actual hotels and NOT hostels?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written July 2025For the 11-day Japan Plus Tour, the standard accommodation is 3* hotels throughout, plus 1 night in a traditional style Japanese Tatami Mat room. We do not use hostels for this tour.
- J
Jade
Traveler•Written July 2025I thought it was 4 star hotels though? That is what the title says
- J
Jade
Traveler•Written July 2025Under the 'what's included' section in the accommodations list, you list '3 and 4 star hotels'
- J
Jade
Traveler•Written July 2025Can you give me an example of one of the 3 star hotels you book? So I can look it up on my end. That might be a deal breaker because my clients want 4 star hotels.
The Dragon TripOperator•Written July 2025Tokyo: The Knot Tokyo Shinjuku, Hakone: Susukinohara Ichinoyu, Kyoto: M's Hotel Gojo, Hiroshima: En Hotel Hiroshima, Osaka: Tokyu Stay Osaka Hommachi. 4-star accommodation in Japan would be considerably more expensive than the trip price we're offering.

Jade
Traveler•Written August 2025My client is still interested in this tour. However, i have a question about the exclusions on the tour. Under the insurance part, it says travel insurance is not included but that they need the insurance. Is that true? How does that work? How can they purchase insurance?
- J
Jade
Traveler•Written August 2025Is it required though?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written August 2025Yes, a basic level of travel insurance is a requirement to join one of our trips. This is so you're covered for any emergency situations that might occur i.e. health related, loss of luggage, cancelled flight etc... You will need to bring proof of your travel insurance with you when you join the trip on Day-1.
- J
Jade
Traveler•Written August 2025Can my client use the travel insurance that comes with their Credit Card?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written August 2025As long as your clients have some level of travel insurance they're covered for, then we can accept them onto the trip. They will need to bring the proof of travel insurance with them on arrival to show the adventure leader. If they already have travel insurance through a credit card provider, then this would be accepted.

Asked on July 13th, 2025Will that be a problem? I know there are private onsens for people to enjoy on their own for those with tattoos, but I just don't want to be put in a position where that option isn't available to me if I'm not allowed into the one that's scheduled on this trip.
The Dragon TripOperator•Written July 2025The onsen we visit during the trip in Hakone is a private onsen experience, so you'll be allowed to go in with your tattoos.

Asked on June 6th, 2025Can I find more information about this tour? I'm not sure if you have a similar tour that includes one more day in Osaka.
The Dragon TripOperator•Written June 2025There's still availability for 2 people to join the trip departing on the 30th March 2026. The other trip we have available is the 13-Day Japan Tour: Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka & Beyond. Both the 11-Day and 13-Day trip spend just 2 days in Osaka. If needed, we can book you an additional night in Osaka for the end of the trip or pre-nights accommodation in Tokyo.

Asked on May 13th, 2025I have two weeks to tour Japan's main sites. I hope to locate a reasonably priced 10-12-day tour, and I may join it.
The Dragon TripOperator•Written May 2025I'll check if we have anything available, however, I think it's very unlikely at this stage. Additionally, our tours typically start in Tokyo and finish in Osaka.

Asked on April 18th, 2025is it possible to catch the bullet train on this tour?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025Yes! You will ride the high speed bullet train (Shinkansen) on Day 8. It departs Hiroshima to bring you into Kyoto. It's one of the highlights of the trip.

Leslie
Traveler•Written April 2025how much would it be?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written April 2025Private departures are typically at least 35% more expensive than joining an existing group tour. The minimum price per person would be 6750 USD. However, we would need to submit a request with our Japan team and the price can be higher.

Traveler•Written May 2025Septt 7th would be better for us but we would be willing to join a very small tour with others. we would also need pre nights
The Dragon TripOperator•Written May 2025The only available departure date for a group trip in September 2025 is the 15th. The maximum group size for this trip is 17 people. We currently have 8 guests booked onto this date already. How many additional pre-nights would you need?

Asked on February 8th, 2025I was looking at your Japan Plus 11-day Culture Tour: Golden Route in November. And it is not clear how we travel from location to location each day. Can you please provide more information on this?
The Dragon TripOperator•Written February 2025For this tour, all local transport is included. Transportation primarily consists of public metros, buses, and trains, including the famous Shinkansen. There are no private buses, so be prepared for lots of walking as well! You'll also receive an IC card preloaded with enough credit to cover transportation for all included activities. This card will be collected back on the last day of your trip. For optional activities or independent exploration, you'll need to top up the card yourself as needed.
