Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Abuja
You'll be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Abuja. Get settled in for your first night and rest up before the journey ahead.
- Day 2
Abuja
Start by heading to Ushafa Pottery Village, also called Bill Clinton Village, where you can watch local artisans make pottery and see cultural performances by the Gwari people including mask dances. Later, stop at the national mosque back in the city, then check into your hotel for the evening.

Abuja to Jos
After breakfast, you'll drive to Jos in Plateau State, about 4 to 5 hours covering 280 km. Once there in early afternoon, start with tours around Riyom village to meet the Birom people and see the Riyom rock formations. Grab lunch in Jos, then visit the Ten Commandments Cenotaph, the Museum of Traditional Nigerian Architecture, and Jos National Museum which holds 2500-year-old Nok terracotta sculptures.

- Day 4
Jos to Bauchi
Begin the day visiting the Zul people to learn about their culture and traditions. Then travel to Bauchi, roughly 2 to 3 hours away covering 130 km. There you'll see the mausoleum of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria's first prime minister, and its museum. After lunch, head out to the Gubi Mountains and Lake Gubi where you'll spend time with local villagers before heading back to your hotel.

Bauchi to Dutse
Following breakfast, drive to Dutse, a journey of about 4 to 5 hours covering 330 km. On the way, stop at Birnin-Kudu to see ancient rock paintings dating back over two thousand years, showing how people lived in northern Nigeria before Western contact. Continue on to Dutse for lunch, then check out Saminu Turaki Tower and other local sites before settling into your hotel.

- Day 6
Dutse to Kano
Experience a royal visit to the Emir of Dutse's palace, which features beautifully decorated buildings and interiors. After that, head to Dutse Rocks where you'll interact with indigenous Fulani villagers and learn about their way of life. Then travel on to Kano, roughly 2 to 3 hours away covering 140 km.

- Day 7
Kano
Visit Gadawan Kura, home to the Hausa Hyena Men, street performers who work with hyenas, baboons, pythons, and other wild animals. Spend your time exploring the village and watching their performances. Packed snacks and drinks are available during lunch, then you'll return to Kano for dinner and have the rest of the evening to yourself.

- Day 8
Kano
Start with breakfast and take a city tour of Kano beginning at Dala Hills, where Kano originated. Visit the Emir's Palace and Gidan Makama Museum with its collections on Kano's history and Hausa culture. See the Great Mosque and Gidan Dan Hausa, then have lunch. In the afternoon, explore the historic Kofar Mata Dye pits, the birthplace of indigo dyeing tradition in the region. You'll also get to watch a 'Dambe', a traditional boxing match between young men, before returning to your hotel.

Kano to Zaria
Drive from Kano to Zaria, approximately 2 to 3 hours covering 160 km, the southernmost Islamic city of the Hausa Bakwai. Start by visiting Kufena Hills in the town of Kufena, thought to be where people first settled before relocating to present-day Zaria. The area has huge hills and is a national monument. Then explore Zaria itself with a walk through the old town of Zazzau to see the historic Sahel architecture.

Kaduna to Abuja
After breakfast, you'll board a train heading to Abuja on Nigeria's newer infrastructure line for about 3 to 4 hours covering 280 km. Once there, you've got a visit to a Fulani village where you'll meet with residents and the village chief. From there, head over to the Nigerian National Mosque to see its four distinctive minarets and the golden dome up close. Later in the evening, you'll make your way to the airport for your flight back to Germany. A day room is available if you need to freshen up before departure.
