In general the excursion was excellent. The tour guide was great. A couple down side points - I don't see why we had to join in Tumbaco instead of Quito. Lots more to do in Quito for those arriving early or leaving late. I felt some days were light on activities. eg one day we went to the NP to see the snow capped volcano - it was totally blocked by clouds but even if we did see it, viewing would not take long, we did an 1.5 hour hike around a lagoon that was supposed to have wild birds but only saw a few from a distance and then a bit of time at the park interperation centre. After lunch that was it for the day. A lot of the places we went required a local guide. I found on hikes on narrow trails the local guide would lead the group. They would stop and point out something but only those right behind them had a good view of what they were talking about. Some others in the group could hear while those at the back could not see or hear the topic.Show more

  Solaris has triple rooms so you could have 3 people sharing a triple room on the Solaris - subject to availability. on the Amazon Extension you would have to have 1 twin and 1 single room - we do not offer triple rooms on the Amazon Extension. the cost of the Amazon extension in dollars is USD 1770 sharing a twin room or USD 2010 in a single room.
