Vancouver
You'll arrive in Vancouver and get your first look at this coastal city backed by steep mountains. The seaport area has plenty of dining options to explore, and Gastown's Victorian buildings are worth walking through. Head up to the Vancouver Lookout for 360-degree views of the city and surrounding mountains. If you're arriving early, there's an optional luxury Rocky Mountaineer train journey available that takes you through the Canadian Rockies.

- Day 2
Vancouver to Nome
After flying from Vancouver, you'll land in Nome, Alaska, a historic Gold Rush town on the Seward Peninsula overlooking the Bering Sea. The town has Gold Rush-era artifacts, old dredges, and steam engines scattered around. It's the place where Roald Amundsen ended three of his polar expeditions, so there's real exploration history here.

At Sea
Your first day aboard the expedition ship gives you time to settle in and meet other travelers. Walk around the vessel's different areas, check out the onboard library, and visit the Science Center. The Expedition Team will give talks about what's ahead during the voyage. From the deck, keep an eye out for humpback whales and seabirds as the ship heads out.

Landmarks Bering Sea - Day 4
St. Matthew Island
You'll reach St. Matthew Island, a remote spot 200 miles from the nearest village in the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. The island has abandoned buildings, black sand beaches, and wildflower-covered tundra. Look for thousands of puffins, murres, and cormorants. If you're lucky, you might spot the rare McKay's Bunting or hear a singing vole.

St. Paul Island
St. Paul Island is the largest of the Pribilof Islands, home to around 400 Aleut people and traditional barabaras (half-underground dwellings). About 300 migrating bird species visit the island, which is designated an Important Bird Area. You can watch for Horned and Tufted Puffins, Pribilof Sandpipers, and rare Red-legged Kittiwakes. Northern fur seals gather on shore.

At Sea (Bering Sea to Dutch Harbor)
As the ship moves south through the Bering Sea from the Aleutian Islands toward Dutch Harbor, the Expedition Team continues their lectures and prepares you for what's coming. Scan the water and sky for puffins, auklets, murrelets, and the rare Red-legged Kittiwake. Between activities, you can relax in the Explorer Lounge, swim in the infinity pool, or soak in the outdoor hot tubs.

Landmarks Bering Sea Aleutian Islands 
- Day 7
Dutch Harbor
Dutch Harbor is America's largest fishing port, and you'll see Mount Makushin, a steaming volcano that reaches almost 6,000 feet, from the water. The Museum of the Aleutians covers the Indigenous Unungan people, and there's a Russian Orthodox Cathedral to visit. A WWII museum tells the story of the 1942 battle here. Watch for Bald Eagles, puffins, foxes, lemmings, wild horses, and whales. The TV show The Deadliest Catch was filmed here.

Unga Village
Unga Village sits on southern Unga Island as a wild, deserted settlement originally settled by Aleuts in 1833 and abandoned in 1969. A few wooden buildings remain, surrounded by pink lousewort and fireweed as nature takes the area back. You'll land here by small expedition boat to explore the ruins.

Alaska Peninsula
The Alaska Peninsula offers raw coastal landscapes, towering mountains, and quiet bays. The Expedition Team takes you out to explore hidden inlets while looking for bears, Bald Eagles, sea otters, and humpback whales. Learn about how geological forces have shaped this unique region and its dramatic topography.

Landmarks Alaska Peninsula - Day 10
Katmai National Park
Katmai National Park covers four million acres with over a dozen active volcanoes and more than 2,000 protected brown bears (the largest concentration anywhere). With an experienced bear guard, you'll scout for bears from the ship or small boats as they forage for berries, dig for clams, or fish in streams. Depending on conditions, you might visit Geographic Harbor, Kinak Bay, or Kukak Bay. Sea otters, seabirds, and humpback whales are also around.

- Day 11
Kodiak Island
Kodiak Island, known as the Emerald Isle for its spruce forests and grasslands, is the second largest island in the US. Around 3,500 Kodiak brown bears live in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, which covers two-thirds of the island. From small expedition boats, you can watch these powerful creatures in their natural habitat against Alaska's rugged landscape.

At Sea (Gulf of Alaska)
Today is built for relaxation and birdwatching as the ship crosses the Gulf of Alaska. Use the infinity pool, hot tubs, and sauna, or hit the gym and go for a run. Try a spa massage if you want. The Expedition Team gives lectures in the Science Center about wildlife, geology, and history. Hang out in the Explorer Lounge with other guests. Watch for the three species of North Pacific albatross, though the Short-tailed one is harder to spot.

Icy Bay
Icy Bay has three glaciers (Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall) that regularly calve into the water. Weather permitting, you'll head out by small expedition boat or kayak to see the dramatic calving. The bay is full of wildlife including humpback whales, orcas, Steller sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals on floating ice, giving you excellent photography opportunities.

Sitka
Sitka sits surrounded by Tongass National Forest and is only accessible by sea or air. From the deck, you'll see the Sisters Mountains and Mount Edgecumbe volcano. The Expedition Team shares how Tlingit people lived here for 10,000 years before Russians arrived in 1804, and later Americans took over after the Crimean War. Today all three cultures blend together. Check out the Russian Orthodox cathedral, Russian Bishop's House, and Haida and Tlingit totem poles at Sitka National Historical Park.

Wrangell
Wrangell is one of Alaska's oldest harbor towns with a complex past, governed by Britain, Russia, and Tlingit people before joining the US. Just outside town, Petroglyph Beach has ancient rock carvings among the sand. The local museum covers the town's history. Head to Shakes Island to see the Chief Shakes Tribal House and totem poles. Hikers can explore nature trails around the Stikine River and Mount Dewey toward the rainforest.

Misty Fjords
Misty Fjords is pristine wilderness inside Tongass National Forest with evergreens, waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. Naturalist John Muir called it one of the most beautiful places he ever saw. Weather permitting, the Expedition Team takes you out by small expedition boat or kayak. Look for mountain goats, bears, and moose. The water holds Pacific salmon, otters, sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall's porpoises. Scan the sky for herons and Bald Eagles.

Inside Passage
The ship travels the Inside Passage coastal route, a protected 930-mile stretch through great North American Pacific fjordland. Unlike larger cruises that travel through at night, you'll see the scenery during the day. The smaller expedition ship can reach areas bigger vessels can't access, letting you explore lesser-traveled channels. Keep your camera and binoculars ready for dolphins, porpoises, orcas, and humpback whales.

Vancouver
Your expedition ends back in Vancouver, giving you another chance to explore the city. Check out the cafe culture of Granville Island or head to Richmond's multicultural night market for food from different stalls. Browse galleries, museums, and events, or relax at Kitsilano Beach. If you want to extend your trip, there's an optional post-program to Whistler mountain resort with stops at Shannon Falls and the Sea to Sky Gondola, which climbs about 3,000 feet for panoramic views.
