Traveler•Written November 2024My colleague has also looked at this tour and says that there are steps that you're required to push your bike up and also across sand dunes. Is this correct, if so can they be bypassed somehow.

Generally the first 6 days of this tour are quite easy to ride. The difference for the 12 day tour is that you do not have a transfer inbetween. And these stages from Figueira da Foz to Cascais are the more challenging ones. So yes it can be that you have to push your bike from day 7 to 10. If so, there are usually no alternative routes in our description, only if something is really not passable anymore.

For the 8 days tour there is a transfer for all the guests including the bikes from Figueira da Foz to Sintra. The 12 days tour does not include this transfer since you are cycling this part along the coast for mutliple days. The lugagge transfer is included for the whole tour of course. So you do not have to take your luggage by bike at all. There are some higher ascents in the last few days, but please bear in mind that it is not comparable with cycling along the alps.

On the 12-day version of this tour there are 4 days with several steep ascents to overcome. A wonderful route on bike paths, farm tracks and side streets with little traffic. Small sections are on slightly busier roads. There are also some longer sections to cycle on gravel tracks. As a solo traveller we also take the bookings. Please not that you are not travelling in a group. There may be others doing the same tour through our company at the same time but you are able to cycle individually.
