  Is there luggage restrictions on the Japan tour

    In terms of size and weight restriction on this tour, we don't have any limits as such; however, we strongly recommned to bring a backpack as this will be much more convenient than a suitcase. We will be walking through a busy pedestrian area to the hostels and backpack will be easier to carry, also not all hostels will have a elevators.

    I don't think it would be possible to 13 days worth of stuff into a backpack. Do you do a lot of walking on the tour? Will it be cherry blossom season?

    As mentioned earlier, there is no luggage restriction as such on the tour but there is a limitation for the Shinkansen ( Japanese bullet trains)
    
    Shinkansen luggage size guidelines:
    
    - Standard luggage (total dimensions 160 cm or less):
    
    No special reservation is required. These bags can be stored in the overhead racks or at your seat.
    
    - Oversized luggage (total dimensions 161–250 cm):
    
    You must reserve a seat that includes extra baggage space (typically the last row of the train car).
    If you board without this reservation, you may be charged a ¥1,000 ($6-7)fee and asked to move your luggage.
    
    - Very large luggage (over 250 cm total):
    These items are not permitted on the Shinkansen and must be shipped separately.
    
    Please note that seats with oversized baggage space are limited and cannot be guaranteed in advance. During peak seasons, tickets are often purchased before the trip begins, and it may not be possible to accommodate specific luggage requests. For this reason, we are unable to reserve seats based on individual luggage requirements.
    
    We strongly encourage guests to pack light and travel with smaller luggage. The maximum recommended luggage size is 160 cm (total of length + width + height). If your clients are traveling with luggage larger than this, we kindly ask that they use a luggage forwarding service to ensure a smooth journey.
    
    There will be some walking on the tour, so moderate fitness will be required.
    
    Late March -early April is the best season to experience Cherry Blossom.

  On one of your Japan tours, there is an age restriction at 59. How strict is this age restriction as I am 73?

    Our Essential Japan Explorer - 13 day tour has a strict upper age limit of 59 with no exception above that. It is a youth-focused tour and dormitory accommodation. We do have a similar tour with no age restriction.

  I am trying to take my mother with my wife and I to Japan. My mother would like her own room and I was wondering if you can accommodate that? (what would be the cost and how would i book it) Additionally my wife an I have tattoos (all hidden under clothing) Will this pose any problems with stops?

    This tour is actually a backpacker style tour, and has an age limit of 18-55 so please keep that in mind. We can book this as a double and a single room (however there are a very limited number of single rooms available on each date so that will be subject to availability). You can show your tattoos in Japan, but it's best to cover them in certain public places like onsen (hot springs), public pools, and gyms, as you may be denied entry.

  We are 2 adults and 1 child (under 12yrs). We need one private room with bathroom. Child will share same room. Can you please confirm this can be accomodated and total cost for 2 adults + 1 child. Also, please inform of any extras which are not included and need to be paid on top of the total price.

    Unfortunately also, our Essential Japan Explorer Tour has a strict minimum age restriction of 18yrs - 55yrs so we are unable to accommodate your 12yr old on this tour sorry.

  Is this a fully guided tour? If I book a single accommodation, do I get a private room throughout the tour? Is there a tour bus or are we commuting via public trains only?

    But the tour details and notes says no private room in Hakone and Osaka?

    In Hakone and Osaka there are no options for single rooms or any room upgrades so for these evenings you would be in a same sex dormitory.

    Unfortunately this tour is fully booked, as this is Cherry Blossom season all our tours in March are full, the next available departure would be 4th April - are you flexible with your dates?

  I am 73 but will be 74 at the time of this trip. I read the itinerary and I'm sure I can keep up. I can walk 6 miles on flat ground pretty well, as long as there isn't ALOT of down hills, I'm good. Can I join this tour?

    Our age range for this tour is 18 - 55 with the average being 18 - 35. We have made some exceptions if you're close to 55, but we wouldn't be able to with this big of an age difference.

    the alternative tour you're offering isn't too bad. But it doesn't include air correct? And I'm a single, so $3615 would come out to be what??. Also, are the accommodations set to be in a hotel? I like the ryokan idea and want to do the spa. Are hostels available?

    You're right it doesn't include airfare. The cost for a single room is 5,195USD. The accommodations will be a hotel except for one night room sharing in a ryokan. All of the tours we offer with hostels are only for 18 - 55.

    International flights are not included with this tour. This way, you would be able to join the group in Tokyo. Were you specifically looking for a tour that does include international flights?
