  • P

    Pamela

    Asked on April 3rd, 2023

how difficult is the 2-day biking excursions? We have never done mountain biking. How many hours per day will we be biking in those 2 days?

    Tour Details
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2023

To best enjoy this trip, you should be pretty confident and competent on a bike with experience doing long days of cycling on dirt/gravel paths. The trail itself is considered a 'green circle' rating, but it's Moderate for the physical rating. You can expect a full day's riding on both days, from 6-8 hours per day depending on the fitness level of the group, and the paths are undulating, so there are some uphill climbs as well as downhill portions where gravity will naturally increase your speed, which is why confidence is important.

    Asked on March 11th, 2022

what would be the best type of luggage to take? Shall it be a backpack or can I bring a regular suitcase? And second, which type of trekking-clothes shall I bring? Will it be very cold in the high mountains? Shall I bring a small light for the nights?

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten March 2022

We recommend the use of a duffel bag or backpack/soft suitcase, whichever is easiest for you to carry. A good size daypack is also essential. Most people automatically assume that the weather is hot in South America, but because of the higher altitude in the Andes, the temperature can feel quite cold, especially at night. We suggest a base-layer, then a mid-layer such as a light fleece jacket or similar, then a windproof and waterproof layer.
