Itinerary
- Day 1
Gosau
You arrive in Gosau Valley in the Northern Alps and get settled into your accommodation. After checking in, you'll receive all your travel documents and information for the days ahead. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage site with the Dachstein mountain and Gosau lakes as the main attractions. This first day is mostly about getting oriented and ready for hiking to start tomorrow.

Gosau to Gablonzerhütte
Starting from Kalvarienberg in Gosau, you'll hike the Herrenweg trail, which is well-maintained and comfortable for most hikers. Along the way you'll cross small streams and pass a few alpine huts. By midday you reach Zwieselalm, where the views of the Dachstein glacier and rock towers open up nicely. From there it's another stretch to Gablonzerhütte at 1,522 meters, where you'll stay the night. The hut sits surrounded by glacier views with the dramatic Gosaukamm towers rising around you.

Gablonzerhütte to Theodor-Körner-Hütte
This morning you'll hike the Austria Weg from Gablonzerhütte, walking across flower meadows and reaching Obere Törlecksattel. From there the trail descends gently through mountain pines and forest to Stuhlalm. After a short break, it's about another 30 minutes to Theodor-Körner-Hütte, where you'll spend the night. The whole day is fairly moderate with nice forest sections mixed in with open alpine landscape.

Theodor-Körner-Hütte to Hofpürglhütte
You'll start with a short walk back to Stuhlalm, then the hike becomes more varied with some steeper sections through mountain pine alleyways that give excellent views of the Zackengrat ridge. When you reach Sulzkaralm, stop and try the fresh milk, butter, and homemade cheeses they sell there. If you're hiking in early summer, you might spot fragrant orchids. The Bischofsmütze double summit and the massive Torstein rock formation come into view as you continue toward Hofpürglhütte at 1,700 meters, where you'll stay.

Hofpürglhütte to Filzmoos
From Hofpürglhütte, descend via the Wastl-Lackner-Steig trail into the valley toward Filzmoos. You'll pass through larch and sparse forest, reaching Hofalmen and then historic Oberhofalm, an alpine pasture with 350 years of farming tradition. The trail continues past Almsee lake and through Mandlinghofalm and Löckenwaldgraben before arriving in Filzmoos. Once there, grab a coffee or meal at a local café or inn, then take a taxi back to Gosau to finish your day.

Gosau
On your final day, you have a choice. If you want one last walk, there's a unique Austrian blanket bog with wooden footbridges leading to Löckermoossee lake, which is peaceful and worth seeing. Otherwise, you'll start your return journey from the Dachstein region. Either way, this marks the end of your mountain hiking tour.
