Vevey to Gruyères surroundings
You'll start the day by taking a cogwheel train up Mont-Pèlerin from Vevey, which gives you great views as you climb. After reaching the top, you'll switch to cycling through quiet roads heading toward Gruyères. The route takes you through green valleys where you'll see and hear the cowbells from grazing cattle. This is the landscape that shaped Switzerland's famous cheese tradition, and the whole ride captures that Alpine character pretty well.

Gruyères surroundings to Gstaad surroundings
Today you're cycling through the Pays d'Enhaut and Saanenland regions. Along the way you'll pass cheese dairies where locals still make traditional products, and you'll see the characteristic wooden chalets with their detailed decorations. The mountain views surround you throughout the day. It's the kind of scenery that looks like a Swiss postcard, complete with the local villages and their particular charm.

Gstaad surroundings to Spiez
You'll cycle through Simmental valley and spend time looking at the ornately decorated wooden houses, some of which are among Europe's most beautiful examples of traditional architecture. From there the route continues toward Spiez, which sits on the shores of Lake Thun. This area is popular for water sports and the Alpine setting makes it pretty attractive. You get both the cultural architecture piece and the lake scenery in one day.

- Day 5
Spiez to Lake Sarnen
Starting at Spiez, you'll take a boat cruise heading to Interlaken along the water. After you arrive, you'll cycle along Lake Brienz shores and face some steep climbs as you head toward Meiringen. Then you cross the Brünig Pass into Obwalden, a smaller canton with pre-Alpine landscapes. You'll see scattered settlements and mountain lakes throughout this section, so it's quieter than some of the other regions.

Lake Sarnen to Lucerne
Cycling toward Lake Lucerne, you'll have Mount Pilatus rising across the water as a backdrop, which creates a really dramatic view. You'll follow the scenic bays that circle this famous Alpine lake as the route brings you into Lucerne. This city is one of Switzerland's most iconic destinations, so you're finishing your cycling section with arrival at a major highlight.
