Itinerary
- Day 1
Cape Town
You'll arrive in Cape Town and start by walking through the city center, then head to Company's Gardens and Cape Town Castle to get a feel for the area's history. From there, the Bo Kaap district is worth checking out for its colorful buildings and local culture, and Signal Hill offers nice views over the city. Later in the day, you'll make your way to the V&A Waterfront before taking the cable car up Table Mountain. The views from the top are really something, with Table Bay, Robben Island, the Cape Peninsula, and Lions Head all visible on a clear day. You'll be staying at Parker Cottage overnight.

Cape Winelands
Today's focused on the Cape Winelands, where you'll visit three different wineries. Villiera is a family operation well-known for their Cap Classique sparkling wine, so you'll get to see their production process and taste what they're known for. Babylonstoren is one of the older Cape Dutch farms in the region with extensive fruit and vegetable gardens on the property. Delaire Graff Estate rounds out the day as a luxury destination where you'll have the chance to taste their wines in beautiful surroundings. The stops can be adjusted based on what interests you most. You're back at Parker Cottage for the night.

Cape Peninsula
You'll drive through Clifton and Camps Bay along the Atlantic coast, where the Twelve Apostles Mountains come into view. Keep going along the coastal road to Hout Bay to see Cape Fur Seals in the harbor. Chapman's Peak is next, and the scenic drive up gives you regional views that really show why this area's special. After that, you'll enter Cape Point National Park and reach the Cape of Good Hope, the furthest southwestern point on the continent. In the afternoon, head to Boulders Beach to visit the African Penguin colony, then wrap up with wine tasting in Constantia before heading back.

Cape Agulhas
You'll leave Cape Town in the morning and drive the scenic coastal route, stopping at Betties Bay first to see the endangered African penguin colony. Later, you'll spend time in Hermanus, a seaside resort town that's known for Southern Right Whales during whale season (July to November). The town has shops, restaurants, and markets to browse through. After Hermanus, you'll continue to Cape Agulhas, the most southern tip of Africa, where there's a viewpoint marking the 'real' meeting place of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. You'll overnight at Agulhas Country Lodge.

Oudtshoorn
You're heading to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo today via Route 62, which is South Africa's longest wine route and known for its scenic landscape throughout the drive. Once there, you'll take a guided underground tour through Cango Caves to see the subterranean formations and spaces. After the cave exploration, you'll do wine sampling of local wines from the region to see what the area produces.

Knysna
After breakfast, you'll head toward the Outeniqua Mountain pass for the views and scenery. Then you have options: spend the afternoon paddling canoes through Wilderness National Park, or if that's not your preference, travel to Knysna instead and take a lagoon cruise. Either way, you'll finish the day exploring Knysna itself, which is an upmarket town with curio shops, restaurants, and a nice waterfront. Before the day ends, head to Knysna Heads viewpoint to see the river estuary and Indian Ocean views.

Tsitsikamma to Addo
You'll head to Tsitsikamma National Park after breakfast. On the way, you'll stop at Bloukrans Bridge to see the world's highest bungee jump bridge at 216 meters, even if you don't jump. The afternoon is for Tsitsikamma National Park itself, where indigenous forest meets the Indian Ocean coastline. You can choose from hiking, crossing a suspension bridge, or swimming depending on what appeals to you. Late in the afternoon, you'll leave the Garden Route and head to Addo to enter Big 5 country for the next part of your trip.

Addo Elephant National Park
You'll spend 3 to 4 hours in the morning exploring Addo Elephant National Park's 28,000 hectares. The reserve has over 600 elephants, and you'll likely see Cape buffalo, lion, black rhino, warthog, zebra, eland, kudu, hartebeest, and other animals during your game drive. After the morning game viewing, you'll drive back toward the Garden Route heart. You're staying overnight somewhere with views overlooking Wilderness Beach, where you can have sundowners as the day winds down.

Mossel Bay to Cape Town
You'll start with breakfast at the George Farmers' Market, then move on to Mossel Bay to spend time on the beaches and hike the Cape St. Blaize trail, which runs along cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. The Diaz Museum complex is worth visiting to learn about the first known European exploration around Africa's tip. If you're interested in adventure activities, there's a 10,000-foot tandem skydive option or sandboarding on the longest dune in South Africa. From there, you'll head back to Cape Town, arriving early in the evening.
