Itinerary
- Day 1
Puerto Maldonado
You'll arrive at Puerto Maldonado airport by 3pm, then head out on a 25-minute motorized canoe ride along the Tambopata River to reach your lodge. Depending on when you get there, your local guide will take you on a jungle walk where you'll learn about tropical trees, medicinal plants, and spot wildlife. The afternoon wraps up with a twilight boat journey searching for caimans and capybaras along the water.

- Day 2
Puerto Maldonado
Your morning centers on the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a 1,129-foot system with observation towers and hanging bridges positioned 30 metres above the forest floor. You'll get unobstructed views of rainforest birds and animals from up there. After lunch, you'll take a 30-minute boat ride into Tambopata Reserve, then walk roughly 5 kilometres through dense rainforest to reach Sandoval Lake. Along the way and at the lake, watch for kingfishers, river otters, capuchin monkeys, black caimans, and giant arapaima fish.

- Day 3
Puerto Maldonado
Start at the Native Farm near your lodge to learn local farming methods and sample what they grow there. Then you'll explore the Botanical Garden to see medicinal plants and discover traditional remedies used in the area. After lunch back at the lodge, take a dugout canoe out on the natural pond and try native fishing techniques yourself. Before evening, visit the Fitzcarraldo Steamboat remains and hear its history, then your guide leads a night walk through the jungle listening for and spotting nocturnal creatures like owls, frogs, insects, and mammals.

- Day 4
Puerto Maldonado
After breakfast, you'll travel back to Puerto Maldonado by motorized canoe and transfer to the airport. If you prefer, you can end things at the office in Puerto Maldonado instead and arrange your own taxi to get to the airport from there.
