What's the best time of year to go to see the northern lights and enjoy the hot springs?

For the Northern Lights, we recommend travelling between late October to early March. So travelling in December would be perfect. Seeing this phenomenon also known as the Aurora Borealis is not something we can never guarantee on our tours due to local weather conditions but there's a good chance you will see them over the course of your winter tour.

I would love to do this tour in new year's time. I don t see dates. We are a family of 4. Is there any option?

We do have a New Year's tour with this itinerary - it's just under a different tour name - "New Years Land of the Northern Lights". It runs from the 29th of December 2022 to the 2nd of January 2023. Can you please let me know the ages of your family members - this tour has a minimum age of 8.

Iceland is beautiful! I truly enjoyed the country. The bus was clean (though the views would’ve been better if the windows were clean) and the driver was great. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I thought it was a great idea to go to City Hall to see the giant map of the country to help us get the lay of the land. The hotel in Hella was gorgeous and the food was good. The hotel (Cabin) in Reykjavík was good, too. I loved the bonfire and fireworks in Hella! The Skógar Museum was interesting and informative. I enjoyed the routes we took and the destinations we went to. We didn’t get to see the Northern Lights but we knew that could happen. I didn’t like that the day after purchasing my package, the price went down. When I asked about it I was told no I wouldn’t get the difference back. Is the price guarantee only for when you find a lower price on a site OTHER THAN TourRadar/On The Go? I also feel it’s dishonest to say it’s a 5 day tour when it was really only 3 days of touring. To say it’s 5 days led me to believe our group would do something on the evening of the first day and also have time together on the final day. A note about our New Years Day dinner: for a steakhouse the steak was terrible. It was cooked medium-rare, but it was a terrible piece of meat. I couldn’t chew through about 1/3 of it. The person next to me at the table was able to eat less than half. I liked the soup, the puffin was interesting to try and my request to have a non-chocolate dessert was happily accommodated. But the steak was awful. I will definitely return to Iceland in the summer for a different experience, but I wouldn’t book a tour with On The Go tours.Show more

  The Blue Lagoon in Iceland is kept at a constant temperature of around 37-40 degrees Celsius (98-104 degrees Fahrenheit), so the water itself would not be too cold to swim in during the winter.
