  This tour gave me bad feelings. The first country, Armenia, the local guide lady was just doing her job, never show her welcome to group members, nor show her proud of her country. Even though she mentioned 3 important squares/park, the bus didn’t stop any of them, not even 5 minutes for photos. I guess they want us to visit these places on our own. The second country, Georgia, in a cold, windy, rainy day, the Penguin leading lady, local tour lady, missed the meeting time, because their food in a restaurant came out late, they were sitting and eating, while the on-time group members stood and waited outside nearby. The 3rd country, Azerbaijan, Penguin tour leader ignored way-early email warning from a group member, we were sent to a horrible place, like no one had lived there for months. Some members booked nearby hotels right away, dragged their luggage in a rainy night. Though the Azerbaijan local guide men was really, super good. Otherwise I will give this tour 1 star.Show more

  This is my second tour with Penguin. Loved the first one to the Balkans last year. But this trip is below expectations. First of all, itinerary is very light, especially the Armenia part which we finish by 1:30 for two days. More cities can be added for Georgia and Azerbaijan. Second, the hotel in Baku was beyond horrible. The original 3 star hotel was changed to a zero or one star hotel. It was filthy, dirty, moldy, and basically inhabitable. Some tour members booked their own rooms in another hotel while some others had to suffer the misery. So far three weeks after the trip, Penguin has not responded back with any apologies or compensation.Show more

  Our Penguin travel tour guide was lacking in communication. She did not clearly tell us the time we should be back to the bus and we were yelled at by her. She didn’t fill out her visa application correctly and was rejected at the airport. She was not at the hotel when we needed her help. The guide from Georgia did not take time to show us or explain the sites. The hotel that we stayed at Azerbaijan was rundown. The room was filthy, the bathroom filled with black mold in between the tiles. The bathroom fixtures were stained and very dirty. I have to request the comforter/blanket several times and they finally delivered after 11pm. Some of our tour group members left and booked a different hotel. Since it was so late, we didn’t feel comfortable going to find another hotel. But I barely slept. I request some kind of compensation from Tour radar or Penguin travel.Show more

  Strongly recommend this tour as it was well organised and I really liked the fact that we did not have to move Hotels every day My main suggestion is that the tour should be a bit longer and include more places in Georgia like Batumi Kutaisi etc as these are lovely areas Also more time in Azerbaijan as again visiting Candy Mtn and Sheki are worthwhile this would make it beyond excellent our guide Georgi was very good local guides Anna in Armenia and Natali in Georgia were very good local guide in Azerbaijan was average and hard to understand Warning avoid travelling in July it was so hot and the mini buses a/c not always working well there needs to be a bit more transparency re local payment 200Euro as it is not fully explained how it works etcShow more

  Excellent tour and the second I have done with Georgi and Penguin travel (5stans also) Everything ran smoothly and Georgi is a great tour leader . I hope to continue travelling with them ! 5* all round. This tour is an adventure holiday so bear this in mind when booking and come with realistic expectations and an open mind ! I left with some amazing life long memories.Show more

  Our Caucasus Explorer tour with Penguin Tours was a lovely surprise. I was sceptical about small group tours but was pleased with the pace, variety of experiences, accommodation and transport. Our small and reliable group of 8 meant that we were able to have flexibility with timing and schedule. We had 3 lovely guides in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan who enhanced the overall experience.Show more
