    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2026

Can you please specify whether you wish to do our group tour, starting on the 16th of October, or if you wish to do a separate private tour, starting on the 17th of October?

All of our group tours are operated with English-speaking guides, but if you prefer to be with a private party, we can try to provide a French-speaking guide.

Please note that if you decide to do a private tour for the three of you, the price will be different than the one mentioned on the tour's page.

  • E

    Elena

    Asked on April 3rd, 2026

What is the additional $348 charge?

    Payments
    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten April 2026

The additional sum is the so-called Local Payment. The local payment is a predetermined amount (usually 100, 200 or 300 EUR per person, depending on the tour/country), which is mandatory on some of our tours to be paid in cash to the tour leader upon arrival. The local payment is part of the total cost of the tour; it is NOT an additional fee. This exact amount is deducted from the initial invoice that you pay pre-departure. Having a small part of the cost paid in cash as a local payment is a standard practice in the tourism industry. During some of our tours in specific parts of the world, there are a lot of cash expenses that we as an agency need to cover (which are included in your travel package). That's why, to make it safer and easier for our tour leader, they will collect a small amount in cash directly from you during the tour. Having a Local Payment also allows us to keep the cost of our tours competitive and save on operational and administrative costs, so we can pass the savings on to you. Please note that the local payment doesn't cover tips for the local guides, entry fees, or other personal expenses.

    • O

      Olga

      TravelerWritten January 2026

Do I apply for Azerbaijan visa before or after booking the tour?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten January 2026

The trip is guaranteed to depart, so you wouldn't have to worry about that. You can go ahead and make an official booking, so your spots are secured.

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten January 2026

This should be the Local Payment. A local payment is a mandatory, predetermined cash amount paid to the tour leader on arrival, and it is already included in the total tour price—this amount is deducted from your pre-departure invoice. It is NOT an additional fee or tax for the tour. It is used to cover unavoidable cash expenses during the tour and helps keep tour prices competitive by reducing operational and administrative costs. The local payment does not include tips, entry fees, or personal expenses.

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten January 2026

We would suggest you apply after you get a confirmation from our side that your booking is confirmed.

    • O

      Olga

      TravelerWritten January 2026

So just to confirm - whatever I pay here is the total fee I pay? Because it was stated that there is $350.31 separate fee to be paid on tour when I want to check out.

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten January 2026

The Local Payment is paid upon arrival to the tour leader. It is excluded from your invoice, and you pay the sum in cash on the first day of the tour. So what you pay online + the local Payment equals the total ammount of the package.

    • O

      Olga

      TravelerWritten January 2026

What currency do you accept for the local payment? Do you accept credit card?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten January 2026

Regarding local payment, we only accept cash on the spot, which you give to your tour leader on the first day of the tour. The Local Payment is 300 EUR per person. You can also pay that in USD, but depending on the conversion rate of the day, the sum varies. It is usually around 350 USD.

      TravelerWritten December 2025

Wondering why no tour dates for the month of August?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten December 2025

The Mount Ararat is visible from Khor Virap monastery, which we will visit on Day 11 from our itinerary. But we do not visit it specifically as it is on the territory of Turkey. We have a date, starting from 31st of August. We will open that date for bookings after New Year on Tour Radar. So, my advice is to follow Tour Radar's website constantly so you can proceed with the booking (if that date is fine for you).
