Itinerary
- Day 1
Port Elizabeth to Addo
You'll meet your crew early in Port Elizabeth and then head straight to Addo Elephant National Park for an afternoon game drive. The park is massive and you'll spend the time looking for elephants along with other wildlife that roams this expansive reserve. Bring binoculars and a camera because sightings happen throughout the afternoon.

- Day 2
Graaff Reinet
Today you're checking out Graaff Reinet, the fourth oldest town in South Africa. This morning or early afternoon gives you time to wander through the town's historic areas. As evening comes around, you'll head to the Valley of Desolation for a sundowner excursion where you get panoramic views of the town spread out below. Note: during winter months, this activity shifts to early the next morning instead.

Landmarks Valley of Desolation - Day 3
Great Karoo to Lesotho
You'll start early crossing the Great Karoo landscape, heading toward Lesotho which sits at around 1,000m above sea level. The drive takes you through wide open terrain. By late afternoon you'll arrive at a mountain camp set high in the Lesotho highlands. After settling in, you're staying overnight here at elevation.

Landmarks Great Karoo 

- Day 4
Lesotho Mountains
Walking through the Lesotho mountains with a local guide, you'll get to know the Basotho community who are recognizable by their distinctive traditional hats, colorful blankets, and mountain ponies. The guide leads you through the terrain. If you want, there's an optional pony trek available so you can experience the mountains from horseback instead of just on foot.

Lesotho to Drakensberg
After leaving Lesotho, you're traveling through striking sandstone cliffs toward Golden Gate and then on to the Drakensberg Mountains. This UNESCO World Heritage site has multiple names: Ukhalamba meaning 'the barrier of spears' in Zulu, or Dragon Mountains in Afrikaans. The scenery is dramatic and you'll see why hikers love this region.

Landmarks Golden Gate National Park Drakensberg Mountains - Day 6
Drakensberg Hiking
You'll get up early for a long hike through Drakensberg with a local guide who points out San rock art along the way. Your guide offers both challenging steep routes and simpler daily hikes, so whether you're very fit or prefer a moderate pace, there's an option that works for you. Everyone gets to experience the mountain in a way that suits them.

Landmarks Giant's Castle - Day 7
Drakensberg to Durban
Your tour ends today as you travel to Durban. From there you'll handle your onward travel arrangements. This is where this particular journey concludes, though the coast and other areas around Durban are worth exploring if you have extra time.
