  Great trip planned by Gulliver Travels; from the moment I requested information to the end of the trip, Ira and Dora were available to answer all of my questions and assist me with any requests. Communication was great the entire time via the Tour Radar website. I was able to make a couple of changes to the rental car dates/pick-up and drop-off locations, which saved me some money as, in my opinion, a car is not needed in Zagreb. The hotel accommodations were quite good and conveniently located. Yes it was a lot of hotel changes but that is the nature of a self-drive tour. I would say the amount of time spent in each location was appropriate. There was an issue at one of the hotels and while the hotel chose not to try to remediate the issue, Dora was proactive and Gulliver Travels reimbursed me for part of what was an unnecessary expense caused by the hotel - an example of the excellent customer service provided by Gulliver's employees. The only suggestion for improvement I can think of would be to have more activities available for an extra fee; I took advantage of one city tour (in Zagreb), it was quite good. It would have been nice to have other add-on options as well but I understand how much overhead would be involved in this and why Gulliver does offer it. It worked out fine; I did my own research and booked a couple of food tours on my own, as well a ferry trip from Trogir to Split and a guide in Split for a day trip. Highly recommend Gulliver Travels and the 11-day self-drive tour.Show more

  Our personalised version of the tour was good but could of been better with regards to the accommodation and rental car return. We chose our own accommodation in Piran and Zadar to be closer to the city and had 3 days in each of these wonderful places. The hotels in Bled, Opatija and Plitvice were excellent, though unfortunately in each case we seemed to get the worst room in the hotel. This was especially evident in Opatija where 16 of 18 rooms had water views and were on the other side with a view of the busy road. The car pick-up in Ljubljana from Auto Union was very good, with a detailed description of the location. The drop-off was a shambles, the original paperwork had no address, just a note saying ring for details before drop-off. I identified that this was inadequate and requested the address. I was told not to worry, everything would be ok. After several more requests we were finally given an address for Sur Price Rentals. When we arrived at the given address, there was no sign of Sur Price and someone in the office at the address said they were out back around the corner. We followed this advice and ended up in a private residence with a perplexed home owner who had never heard of Sur Price. We went back to the given address and a woman working a neighbouring address told us that Sur Price were behind the given address, down a footpath. When we got to the office it was unlocked and nobody was there. Five minutes later someone walked in and when we said that they had no sign pointing to their office, he laughed and agreed. He had no idea that we were to drop-off a car. Another person arrived and he did know about the drop-off. After that the hand over went smoothly and we were transferred to airport. The car itself looked like it had been in a rally race with most panels scratched or with more serious damage. The rear sensor didn't work making parking harder than it should be. Mechanically the VW Golf was very good, even with 148,000km on the meter. Overall the booking and personalising the trip was well handled, it is would of been excellent except for the above mentioned issues.Show more
