  My husband and I took a 16-day tour of Egypt from October 1st to 16th. It was an amazing trip full of information about Egyptian history and memorable sights like the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and all the temples along the Nile. We really enjoyed the cruise and the all-inclusive resort in Sharm El Sheikh. The Egyptian people were warm, welcoming, and friendly. We had two incredible tour guides: George in Cairo, and Gabriel in Luxor and on the cruise. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, but they also went out of their way to accommodate all our requests. The drivers in Cairo, Hamdi and in Aswan, Mostafa were amazing as well—it blew my mind how well Hamdi navigated the busy streets of Cairo! The traffic was an absolute nightmare. The tour organizer for Ancient Egypt, Salwa, was quick to answer our text messages and accommodated our requests to the best of her ability. Her job is very difficult, making all the arrangements for hotels, flights, airport pickups, drivers, and guides—she deserves 5 stars and more! There were just a few things that would have made this trip perfect: • Entrance Fees: We didn't pay close enough attention to the tour description and missed that museum and temple entrance fees weren't included. That added up quite a lot to the total cost, especially since Egyptian pounds were not accepted for those fees and a credit card was required. It would be helpful if the organizer included those fees in the total package price. • Itinerary Expansion: On the day Saqqara and Memphis were scheduled, it would have been a great idea to include the Dahshur pyramids as well. There was plenty of time left in that day to accommodate that historic site. • Hotel Noise: Stay In Hotel on Faysal Street in Giza was very nice with an incredible staff and delicious breakfast buffet, but it was very noisy at night. The traffic was intense and the car honking didn't stop until 2:00 AM. A few tips for future travelers that I wish I had known before the trip: 1. Have plenty of Egyptian pounds for tipping. 2. If you aren't interested in shopping or spending a lot of money on items, tell your guides right from the start that you prefer focusing on museums and historical sites instead. Because of extended shopping stops, we only got to spend one hour at the Grand Egyptian Museum when it really deserved at least three. 3. The best place to buy souvenirs at a good price and without any hassle is in the stores on the Nile Cruise. 4. If you need to buy any pharmaceutical items, the best prices are at the government pharmacies. All in all, it was an once-in-a-lifetime trip. It was such a powerful experience that for a few nights after I got home, I dreamt only of Egypt!Show more
