Itinerary
- Day 1
Inca Trail Start
Your pickup happens early at 5:40 am from the hotel, then it's a drive to kilometer 88 on the rail line where the trek kicks off at 9 AM. The first day takes it slow so you can adjust to the altitude and pace. You'll walk through the archaeological complex of Patallaqta and into Huayllabamba valley, where you'll notice the landscape changing as you climb toward Yuncos Chimpana. The day ends at Llulluchapampa where you'll set up camp for the night.

Inca Trail Trek
After breakfast, the trek continues with valley views around you and Huayanay mountain rising to 4,200 m. You'll pass the site known as Warmiwaña and check out the Runkurakay complex, then move through areas with views of Sayacmarca valleys and the snowcapped peaks. From there it's on to the Phuyupatamarca archaeological complex where you'll camp.

Landmarks Huayanay Warmiwaña Runkurakay Sayacmarca Phuyupatamarca - Day 3
Machu Picchu
Start early with breakfast and explore Phuyupatamarca, then hike roughly 3 miles to Wiñaywayna for a visit to the Intipata Wiñaywayna complex. Next is the trek to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), and you'll arrive around sunrise to see Machu Picchu for the first time. After that short visit, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and then back up to Machu Picchu for a guided tour with afterward free time to wander around. By late afternoon, head by bus back to Aguas Calientes, board your backpacker class train to Ollantaytambo, then a 90-minute drive into Cusco ending at San Francisco Plaza.
