  We had a lovely time during our 8 days tour through Sri Lanka. Everything was very well organized and our driver and guide took good care of us, was always on time and adapted the tour every day to manage the rainy hours so that we could enjoy every highlight. We chose the cheapest accommodations but where positively surprised by all the hotels and lodges. They were are super clean and the staff was very polite and friendly. We recommend Mango Vacations as they were engaged, trustful and we always felt safe an welcomed.Show more

  Like everyone else, we were upgraded to a private tour (2pax) so enjoyed the flexibility (even though we were looking forward to meet with new people in a group). We had a driver (no separate guide) who agreed with us to adapt a bit the itinerary: for ex it is advisable to do Lions rock in the early morning so instead of doing it on day 2 as per itinerary, we did it on day 3 early morning (and we think this should be the base itinerary from the start). The tour covers most of the must sees of Sri Lanka and it is a great itinerary: you will see a lot! However, I regret not checking on the accommodation with the tour as I assumed they would put us in standard hotel category as per the list of hotels under accommodation on the tour page (which I had checked before booking and was ok with, hence proceeded to book the tour)! To my horror, we were put in much lower standard than those listed. After chasing them for confirmation of the tour and the pre-accommodation, they only confirmed the day before the tour started with a different list of hotels and without giving the hotel in Negombo. If I knew we would not be put in Regal Reseau, I would have booked the pre-accommodation myself as we booked this tour 6 months in advance, but it felt like everything was left to the last minute… Local sim card was not provided either as per the additional services listed. Our driver offered to give us hotspot when we needed it (both of us decided to pay for our own roaming in the end as it was just easier). In Negombo, we were put in the cave by blue bird (which wasn't very clean - sand not cleaned from the room floor, blood stains on the hairdryer) instead of regal reseau, no bicycle was provided. In Sigirya, we were in iwamisou instead of sigiri asna nature (this one was ok, clean, but not 3*). In Kandy, we were in Cassendra hotel which was fine. In Nuwara Eliya, this is the only place where we were very happy with the hotel and it was the one listed Cottage San Francesco. In Ella, we were in Seven Heaven (highly highly not recommended - there were ants crawling everywhere in the room and the bathroom!). After which we decided to check on the remaining hotels they gave in the confirmation and we were pleased to see that in Tissa they had planned to put us in Chaarya. And guess what, the following day when we reached Tissa they put us somewhere else… in Rice of Life, which was an abandoned hotel honestly, we were the only guests and it felt like they opened just for us (when we asked to see other rooms, we found out that they were probably left empty for months and they had just cleaned the one room they proposed to us). At this point we decided to complain to Mango because they really felt short on our expectations!! We were looking forward to Chaarya and the promised BBQ… but were left with a shabby hotel and nothing close to a BBQ. As we complained, they decided to change our hotel in Mirissa and instead of putting us in Wavelength which they had planned to (1* hotel), they finally put us in Randiya Sea View as per the list advertised in Tour Radar. So in short, good itinerary, but make sure you confirm the hotels and you are ok with them before booking the tour. I would also advise to confirm the itinerary with your driver (we wanted to be dressed appropriately for the different activities so it was important to us) and to lookout for your own lunch and dinner places and tell your driver to drive you there if you don't want to be taken to overpriced touristy places (buffet style). Our little gem was in Tissa: Home Food Restaurant on rubberwatte road. Finally take note to budget for the entries that are not included (Sigirya is US$36, Polonnaruwa is $US30 etc..) and the safaris too (US$60 for Eco park and US$100 for Yala park) – do take plenty of cash as many places do not accept credit card! Sri Lanka is beautiful, enjoy your trip!!Show more

It would have been better to search the information about all the places we visited in advance… The guide had really nothing to say but a couple of numbers found on Google. That was really disappointing. He was not understanding any of my questions and seemed to be relying on the driver for everything. Now the driver was really reliable. Although quite young very good as safe, and kind and thoughtful. The country is amazing! Everyone is smiling and helpful. The food is amazing. Very spicy though. There are options non spicy but sri lankans looooove the spices. Be sure to ask how much time you have to visit the places where you stop in order to be able to visit everything planned for the day…. Otherwise you will be unpleasantly rushed at some point. But overall I’m happy with the tour.Show more

Both lovely guys who couldn’t do enough for us on our trip, they were on hand at all times and provided support throughout. We really enjoyed all the wonderful sights and knowledgeable information given. Thilina went above and beyond to get us tickets for the Ella train which was an unforgettable journey. Thilina also changed our tour at the end so that we could accommodate the whale tour in Mirissa. We can’t recommend Mango enough… sound local, caring people for the most amazing holiday.
