Itinerary

Arusha to Mount Meru
You'll drive from Arusha to Momela Gate this morning to complete registration before starting your Mount Meru trek. Once you're registered, an armed ranger joins you as you begin hiking through the montane forest. The trail takes you through areas where you'll spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, and various monkeys as you make your way up. By evening you'll reach Miriakamba Hut where dinner and your first night's accommodation await.

Mount Meru Saddle
This day involves a steep climb from Miriakamba Hut up to the saddle below Little Meru. The hike follows a ridge that gives you views looking over Meru Crater and the Ash Cone below. After a hot lunch at Saddle Hut around midday, you have the option to make a short additional climb to Little Meru's summit for sunset views (approximately 3,820m/12,533 feet). You'll return to Saddle Hut for dinner and spend the night there.

Mount Meru Summit to Arusha
You'll start before dawn at 1:30 a.m. for the steep final push to Rhino Point and Cobra Point, aiming to reach the 4,566m/14,977 feet summit right at sunrise. On clear mornings, Kilimanjaro Peak is visible above the clouds. After resting briefly and having brunch at Saddle Hut, the descent begins back toward Momella Gate. Your transfer picks you up there and takes you back to your hotel in Arusha, completing the trek.
