Osaka
You'll arrive in Osaka and make your own way to your accommodation. Take time to settle in and get oriented to your new surroundings after your journey.

Kobe
Start by visiting Osaka Castle, the iconic 16th-century fortress with its distinctive vermillion exterior and gold roof. From there, head to Dotonbori where you can try local foods and do some shopping in this famous food and entertainment center. Later, travel to Kobe and check out the Kobe Earthquake Memorial Museum dedicated to the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake. Your group gathers for a welcome dinner this evening.

Kurashiki - Hiroshima
After breakfast, you'll head toward Hiroshima. On the way, stop in Kurashiki to walk through its well-preserved Edo-period merchant district with canals, white-walled warehouses, and cobbled streets. Continue on to Hiroshima, a city with significant historical importance from WWII.

- Day 4
Miyajima - Okayama
Start with Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island where you'll see the famous torii gate that appears to float in the sea during high tide. Then visit Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Museum to learn about and commemorate victims from WWII. Later you'll travel to Okayama for the night.

Himeji - Nara - Kyoto
Head north and stop in Himeji to see Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a distinctive white fortress from the samurai era. Continue to Nara and take a short walk to the main attractions, including Todaiji Temple with its Great Hall housing one of the world's largest bronze Buddha statues. You'll walk back through Nara Deer Park where hundreds of sacred deer roam freely. Check into your Kyoto hotel for the night.

Arashiyama - Kanazawa
Visit Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, a Zen temple and World Heritage site with two floors covered in pure gold and three distinct architectural styles. Head to Togetsu Bridge and the Bamboo Grove, notable landmarks in Western Kyoto's Arashiyama District that date back over four hundred years. Then travel to Kanazawa for the night.

Walk through the streets of Higashi Chaya district with its quaint old buildings that were once teahouses. Visit Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan's three best landscape gardens. Finish at Omicho Market to try local foods and see local crafts.

Mount Fuji
Visit Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's most complete and original castles. Travel to the Mount Fuji area and check out Oshino Hakkai, one of eight ponds fed by melting snow from Mount Fuji's slopes through porous lava, creating clear spring water. Visit Mount Fuji's 5th station high above the clouds to see the summit (weather permitting). Stay in the Mount Fuji area and enjoy a farewell dinner with your tour group.
