  Happy travellers with Mango Vacations and Vishwa!! We are 2 Australian friends who went on a 14 day tour in February 2025, meeting 3 other ladies (from USA/Austria) and our amazing driver/guide/now friend Vishwa Lakshan. Vish clearly communicated at the start of the tour the need for everyone to be respectful and flexible, given it is a group tour and it’s possible not everyone wants to do or see the same things. Fortunately our group were very much on the same page in this regard, and everything ran smoothly. An example, I wanted to go white water rafting, most of the others hadn’t really considered it prior, yet all jumped at the suggestion and it was another fun experience we shared together. The group gelled together really quickly and within just the first couple of hours we were chatting and laughing our heads off, and this continued for the whole time. Vish quickly picked up the vibe and joined in the banter which made this even more fun! In a lovely touch, we have all continued to stay in touch since we went our separate ways and headed home. Vish is an excellent driver and we were very surprised how comfortable we were with him behind the wheel, despite the apparent craziness on the roads compared to what we are used to in Australia. Seems very odd to say, given driving conditions in Sri Lanka, but speaking for myself, it’s the safest I’ve ever felt on the roads. He never exhibited any road rage, always cool, calm and collected, and the only way we could tell he had any frustration from traffic was a cute little humming noise. Lol It’s also wonderful being able to combine a driver with a tour guide. Vish speaks excellent English and explained so much about what we were seeing, the history behind things, and was able to answer our many, many questions (some crazier than others)! He was also our “Mr-Fix-It.” Any problems we encountered, he took control and got things sorted with calmness and patience. He was able to adapt our itinerary on the run dependant on weather conditions and how we were travelling timewise. He recognised when the group was tired and needed a bit of a sleep in, or when we were energised and could take on anything. He allowed sufficient downtime by being attentive to our needs. We didn’t miss out on anything we wanted to see or do in our jam packed adventures! Vish wasn’t demanding that we fit in with his schedule, he fitted into ours. If we wanted to stop for something to eat, no problem, money changers or ATMs, no problem, take a longer time wandering around somewhere, no problem. Vish was our liaison with the locals, with any extra tours we chose to do, he connected us up and made sure we were taken good care of (on the odd occasion he wasn’t joining us). It appears everyone in the country knows Vish! He has friends everywhere. Just when you think the bloke can’t be any better, he’s also a brilliant photographer/videographer, and the most patient IT wizard. At different times we all had the odd tech issue, but Vish would take it and work his way through the issues calmly and methodically. Vish also went totally above and beyond. We were hoping to meet up with my English cousins who were also travelling through Sri Lanka at the same time. On a couple of occasions we were staying in the same towns. The first catchup, Vish kindly offered to drive us there and back, even though it had been a very long day and we were willing to take a tuk tuk (we were able to convince him to stay and have a drink with us rather than drive back and forth). For the second occasion he arranged a restaurant he knew would be just the type we like (he was right), for our whole tour group to also come along and meet my cousins for dinner and a catchup. Nobody would have blamed him if he said “not my problem” and just wanting to get to his accommodation and relax after a long day behind the wheel, but he always put us first and we are so appreciative of that fact. He also arranged a bit of a night out/party for our tour group which was a lot of fun and just added to the camaraderie amongst us all. Cannot believe how much we fitted into our trip! History, Temples, Ancient Ruins and Relics, plus Sri Lankan Culture (including dance and cuisine). So many Animals (elephant orphanage/safaris/whale watching/plus all the animals you just see on the roads and out and about.). We may not have seen a sloth bear, but we saw leopards, heaps of elephants, water buffalo, birdlife, crocs, monkeys and so much more. The scenery was beautiful, in particular the mountains, forests and tea plantations. The train from Ambewela to Demodara (just past Ella where the Nine Arch Bridge is) was an absolute highlight! We wish we had been able to spend more time in these gorgeous mountains. The other mention we would like to make was how Vish arranged other drivers for us on the couple of occasions that our plans were slightly different from the rest of the tour group, be it when we went glamping at Yala and on one separate safari to the group (he also arranged that safari for us), or staying in a different town at the end of the trip. He always advised the night before the name of our driver, photo of him and his vehicle with number plate, and had them well aware of where we needed to go and what we wanted to do on the way, so we still enjoyed other sights and activities, and we always got collected and where we needed to be at the correct time. Mango were able to adjust our itinerary to meet our needs and it was wonderful to be able to deal with a local Sri Lankan business, and keep our tourist dollars in Sri Lankan pockets. They were significantly cheaper than several “foreign” agencies who likely would have booked the locals for our tour, but pocketed a big “commission” on top of it. Why spend more money on something we easily arranged directly ourselves? We admit to being a tad nervous leading into our first ever group tour, but after having the most amazing experience we would not only recommend it, we’d also do it again! We hope to head back to Sri Lanka on another trip in coming years to visit the other parts of the country that we didn’t have time for and will be definitely looking to use Mango Vacations and book Vish again. Hopefully with our Austrian and American friends too and get the machans back together. Thankyou again Vish and Mango Vacations. You made our trip to Sri Lanka so memorable!!   Vish was our guide around Sri Lanka for the first week of April. It’s difficult to describe just how brilliant he was. From the moment he picked us up we knew it would be a fun and stress free week. My wife and I were travelling with our two children aged 11 and 8. From the start he made it clear his priority was to ensure we all felt safe and all enjoyed our experiences as much as possible. Over the week we visited Temples, climbed the Sigiriya Lion Rock for sunrise, did safaris, boat trips, visited tea plantations, spice and gem museums, did a train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella, visited waterfalls, viewpoints and the Nine Arch Bridge. Vish coordinated everything brilliantly. He was so knowledgeable answering all our questions and giving us so much information about this wonderful country including its heritage and customs. We were really able to relax and enjoy all our experiences knowing we were in safe hands. Nothing was too much trouble from helping us exchange money, helping our daughter find a ball, buying train tickets, finding amazing lunch stops, even switching things around to accommodate us and the weather. Over the week Vish went from being our guide to being our friend. Had we known beforehand how good he would be we would have extended our adventures by another week. Saying goodbye was horrible, especially for our kids. Vish is immensely polite, helpful, knowledgeable, funny, kind, caring and many other wonderful things that make him the perfect guide and representative for this amazing country. We have already recommended him to several people and will definitely be coming back so he can show us the parts of the country we didn’t get to! Vish - thank you again.   What a tour I've travelled many countries and this tour of Sri Lanka has been my best holiday to date. Firstly our guide/driver was excellent and has a great knowledge of the culture and took us to places not on the usual intinaries as well as the must do one's. Keshara our guide is friendly, energetic and helpful and his priority is for you to have the best time possible. We spent 24 days together travelling from Negombo then through the centre down to Yala then the southern beaches then back to Colombo. We did safari parks, hiking/trekking, sightseeing, jungle national parks and visited some of the nicest beaches I've been to. I highly recommend Keshara and Mango Vacations.Show more

  We travelled throught Central and south west Sri Lanka which we booked through Mango Vacations. We were thrilled with our guide and driver, Keshara. He took us to not only the tourist destinations but to not so known places, waterfalls, jungle tribes, locals places for lunch and experience. There wasn't a place we went to that he didn't know some one which only enhanced our experience of Sri Lanka and the people. We had the best time with him, plenty of information and of cause lots of laughs along the way. Keshara tended to all our needs and was so caring. He listened to what we were interested in seeing and ensured that each and everyone was an enjoyable adventure.Show more

  My tour through Mango Vacations was excellent. Our tour guide Vishwa and the driver were professional and gave excellent narratives about the places we visited. The driver Asri was a great driver and drove safely and was very conscientious. The first 1/2 was jammed packed with many historical sites and cultural experiences. The 2nd 1/2 was more relaxing and laid back. The owner of the company could have more of an effort to email the requested information sooner than one week before departure. The only request I would make is to offer another time to climb Sigiriya Lion Rock. No one wanted to climb at 4:30 but offering a later time (6:30) would have been preferred by the group . The hotels were all top notch in good locations with swimming pools. Vishwa was always available to answer any questions and help with anything that was requested. Awesome tour.Show more

  I want to begin by saying our tour guide, Hasanka, was fantastic and did his best under the circumstances. Unfortunately, the tour organiser, Nadeeka, completely ruined the experience. The itinerary I booked was changed at the last minute without my consent, and I ended up missing more than half of the activities I had paid for. The hotels were shockingly mismanaged. Nadeeka booked them last minute through booking.com, and multiple times, there was no availability in the cities we were supposed to stay in. This left us scrambling to stay in entirely different locations. Even worse, despite two of us being on the same package, we were split across different hotels, wasting hours on unnecessary pickups and drop-offs. To make matters worse, Nadeeka runs a misleading operation. He advertises 12 different tours but combines them when he doesn’t fill up the groups, meaning you never get the trip you were promised. Throughout the ordeal, we were lied to repeatedly about the itinerary, leaving us no choice but to accept whatever he decided. This was a complete disaster from start to finish. Nadeeka’s lack of professionalism, care, and honesty is shocking. I would strongly advise against booking with Mango Vacations if you want an organised and stress-free trip. Save yourself the disappointment!Show more

Your original arrival date was December 21, but due to your flight cancellation and subsequent delay, the tour commenced as scheduled for the rest of the group. To accommodate you, we offered an alternative arrangement to rejoin the tour in Kandy at no additional transport cost. While we endeavored to integrate you seamlessly into the group under challenging circumstances, we acknowledge that this solution may not have been ideal. As this was a group tour, the itinerary needed to proceed as planned for all participants. Late arrivals can unfortunately result in unavoidable adjustments. Regarding your note about paying for activities you did not participate in, we wish to clarify that you were not charged for any activities missed due to your delayed arrival. We hope this clears up any misunderstandings. Regarding accommodations, we sincerely apologize for the issues experienced during the peak travel season. While we strive to secure suitable hotels well in advance, last-minute changes during such busy periods can sometimes lead to unexpected challenges. We regret the inconvenience caused by being accommodated in separate locations and are actively reviewing our processes to prevent similar issues in the future. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will use it to improve our services. While we take pride in the overwhelmingly positive experiences of our guests, we acknowledge that we fell short in your case and deeply regret the stress this caused.   Overall I am very pleased. Sri Lanka had a lot to offer. The accommodation and standard of food are both very good. The trip was well organised and I always felt safe. The guide Vish and the driver were both exceptionally good. Overall, I do recommend Mango Vacations but with some qualifications. Our tour party was 5 people and represented 3 different tours of differing duration. But Mango combined all tours into one with no discussion. This meant some options for some travellers were not available and some paid much more than others for basically the same thing. To get around this suggest before you travel getting a guaranteed from Mango that you will get the exact tour you paid for. The other issue is that I ended up paying much more than the listed price on tourradar. After booking and being unable to get my money back i was asked for more money as I was the only traveller on the date that I booked and this condition is not clear when you booked. Then there was much further discussion about wanting more money for a private tour and sharing a room.....again, not very obvious when you book. To get around this, ask plenty of questions of Mango before you book and pay money as likely you will get squeezed for more money as I did, abs once you have paid a deposit they gave you, there is no way outShow more
