Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Arusha

    You'll get picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport for the drive to Arusha, which takes about an hour. Once you arrive at your lodge, there's a meeting scheduled with the operation manager who'll go over everything you need to know for tomorrow's climb. After that you'll have dinner and settle in for the night.

  2. Day 2

    Arusha to Miriakamba Hut

    Your day starts early with a 07:30 departure from Arusha heading toward Momella Gate. Your Tanzanian guide will be with you the whole way. After handling the park paperwork, you'll begin trekking past the Ngarenanyuki River and make your way to Miriakamba Hut where you'll stay overnight.

  3. Day 3

    Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

    Following breakfast, the path gets steeper as you head up along the saddle toward the saddle hut. You have a choice here, you could trek out to Little Meru and come back, or just head straight to the saddle hut for your overnight stay. Either way, you're climbing higher and the altitude will start to feel real.

  4. Day 4

    Summit of Mount Meru

    This is the big day, so you'll start before dawn to head for Mount Meru's summit at 4,565 m/14,977 ft. Once you reach the top and take some time to catch your breath, the descent begins back down to Miriakamba Hut where you'll spend the night recovering.

  5. Day 5

    Descent to Momella Gate and Return to Arusha

    After some rest and breakfast, you'll descend to Momella Gate and then head back to Arusha. This wraps up your Mount Meru climbing experience and by afternoon you'll be back in town.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before February 20th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after February 20th, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with Maasai African Guides and DMC Ltd. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
    • Some departure dates and prices may vary and Maasai African Guides and DMC Ltd will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
