Salwa is a very experienced and accomodating tour operator. She was always available, even before we got to the country. We really felt that we were in good hands the entire time and everything we asked her for she delivered on. For those of you who've never been in Egypt, I have some advise. Nothing anyone offers you is free. They will give you a "gift" and then at the end of the day charge you 20 USD or more for something you didn't even want. Guides will drop you off at stores and other places which aren't on the itinerary - these places have a deal with your guide on commission. Not only are the prices outrageous at these places, but they put up the prices from that to include a commission for your guide. This is common practice in Egypt, regardless of which tour company you book with. When you go to places where there is an extra charge for something, pay with cash from your own hand - don't have your guide do it as they will charge you double at the end of the day. Tipping isn't mandatory - despite what you'll read elsewhere. No matter what amount of tip you give, it'll never be enough. In fact, by tipping you just open yourself to be hounded for more. They will usually not take a tip with gratitude, they will think you have too much money and can part with more easily enough. Of course, tip as you see fit but you are not required to. When the guide picks you up at the beginning of the day, have them go over the itinerary as they see it. You have the power to say yes to things and no to things. If the guide takes you somewhere you don't want to go, just tell them to move on to the next place. Better yet, every time you get in the car have the guide run the next destination past you and only start going once you agree. If the guide doesn't listen, call Salwa and she will sort you out. That being said, we had the sweatest driver you'd want. Even when we were arguing with the tour guide, he always took our side. Abdu (the driver) was one of the most essential people to us having a good time, who went above and beyond every single day. He spoke very little English, but we communicated well enough through Google translator and we always felt safe in his car and when he was around. Quiet, stable, kind, and just the person you'd want around while navigating a new country.Show more

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Organisationally it was spot on, every pre tour question answered quickly, fully and helpfully by Sanwa. We were met at the airport immediately on exiting by Hamdy, who was our driver for the whole of the tour. Always polite, always smiling, always punctual, always very helpful, Hamdy is an excellent and safe driver especially in the extremely heavy traffic in Cairo. Our hotel, Azel Pyramid was comfortable; spotlessly clean; good food; attentive and courteous staff throughout. The company ran the tour with only one without charging me extra, which was beneficial for me as a solo traveller. They were on hand to help and the hotel was decent, however, the quality of the guides was a concern. One left me without any information for large parts of the day and rushed me around so quickly, we were finished over an hour before we needed to be. The second didn't follow the itinerary shared by the company and I had to ask to go to the places listed, which resulted in journeys back and forth across the city, which shouldn't have been necessary. The final one took me to a restaurant which they clearly had an agreement with, which tried to force me into taking a set menu I didn't want. Be aware- tipping is very much expected and sometimes talked about to an uncomfortable level, so take this into account when you budget for the trip. All entrance tickets are not included, so they also add up. This is stated, but worth knowing. All-in-all, a very mixed experience and not quite what I had hoped for in such an iconic location.Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 12th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 12th, 2026, a minimum payment of 30% is required to confirm your booking with Ancient Egypt Tours. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 40 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
