  Feedback on Sicily trip Overall, the tour was well organized. However, for what it provided in terms of accommodation and activities, it was expensive. Our previous tour of Italy in 2023 and the tour of Morocco which we did subsequent to Sicily (both with Tour Radar) were much better, especially the hotels were very good. Hotels: 1. The hotels in Taormina and Palermo were adequate, central to the tourist area, facilitating sightseeing forays. 2. The duplex (with the washroom and closet on the ground floor and the bed in the loft above) offered in Ortigiya (Syracuse) was unacceptable. Maassimo did come through and got us alternative accommodation in the EGEO hotel which was very nice. However, as our friends were in the first hotel a good twenty minutes away the logistics were complicated for meals together, spending free time together and especially on the walking tour that added to the already difficult tour for the two mobility challenged people. 3. For the extra night (Oct 14) in Taormina’s Splendid hotel, we were charged 210 Euros cash. However, when we checked online, the rate for the same room and view was considerably less (under 150 euros). Tours: 1. Taormina tour was fine. 2. The Mt. Etna tour was good. The guide appropriately dissuaded us from venturing past the 2000 meter point and helped us do the trek to the three extinct craters. We appreciated this. 3. The Ortigiya tour was adequate. By the time I had made the 25 min walk from EGEO to the meeting point, I was already tired and then we retraced our steps to cover the three points of interest. 4. The guide for the Palermo tour was very pleasant; however, we could have easily done the tour ourselves; it was adequate at best. 5. In the evening, we happened to run into the Taormina guide Rosario who was taking a bus load of tourists on a Palermo by night tour and we wondered why we were not offered that. The tour by a vehicle and at night would have suited us well in addition to the walking tour. Transportation: Nothing to complain. The vehicles and drivers provided were fine and comfortable. Communication: Massimo (Max) was good to respond to our queries and requests in a timely manner. Much appreciated. Graziana sent us morning greeting messages but was slow to respond to any queries. Moreover, on several occasions at various times of the day when we called she whispered that her baby was sleeping and so she could not talk. Especially when we were without board in Ortigiya, we needed to contact urgently. We then called Max who responded and sorted things out.Show more

  Hi Ran, Massimo here. Thanks a lot for Your review :) I would say that I am really surprised about Your review in general and about some of Your comments and obbiouvsly some of Your omissions. We were in good touch before and during Your tour. We had nearly 5 calls. Every morning You were calling us asking for suggestion on how to go during the free time, how to reach this place and how to reach that place. We were always at Your disposal, Me and Graziana. Yes we have both little babies :))) Let's see in details: 1) You can't compare a tour done 3 years ago, with a tour done this year. As You are aware there is very big incresing in cost worldwide. 2) the price we received for this PRIVATE TOUR (9 days and 8 nights including breakfasts and 5 generous meals) was roughly 2430€ per person. Our Small group tour costs nearly 2595€ per person (even more in top season). So, for a private tour You have paid nearly the same amout of a small group tour 3) regarding the hotels. You have booked the package with 4 stars classic hotels. Despite of this... IN TAORMINA I have upgraded You for free in the hotel in Taormina (in a 4 stars small boutique). We have our agreement with all the hotels and a sort of flat rate for all the season, thats' why we pay the same good and fair amount all the season. If You could have come in september and You would have asked the cost of the extra night in hotel they would have told You 350€/400€. But with us You would paid however 210€. So we don't want to overprice our guests at all. I have obviously asked You if You want me to book the extra night and You agreed with the price. You could have done by Yourself :) IN SYRACUSE In Syracuse we have booked for You a 5 stars hotel to give You a nice surprise, Despite of You have paid for a classic 4 stars Yes it was a duplex room, but no one warned me that You couldn't afford 10 stairs. You have called me when You arrived in the hotel and I jumped on the problem and offered You another hotel of a very good level (500€ per night x 2 nights). I have paid this hotel for You (even if the other was not refundable) and I did with my heart to let You feel comfortable and happy about Your tour. And believe me It was not my duty to pay this second hotel for You. But I did with pleasure. The 2 hotels were only 10 minutes walking distance ( check google maps). You have called at 5pm and I managed to find You a good alternative for the very same night. Was still top season and a lot of good hotels were fully booked as You can imagine.Sorry that was not next to the other hotel. Next time I would book the first low level bed and breakfast i find on the web next to the hotel. finally we are very happy that You enjoyed our Guides and Tours and Activities. This is the most important thing for us :)
