    Asked on March 7th, 2026

There is several days hiking on the 8 Day Grand Teton & Yellowstone Explorer. We are quite interested in every aspect of the Tour but are curious as to how much hiking is as we are seniors in our 70s with bad knees. Are there optional activities at the various hiking locations which we could enjoy while other tour members were hiking. If it helps photographers who enjoy landscape photography if this is a viable alternative to hikes

There are always look out points to stay back at. You do not have to continue with the group. This would be a great trip for landscape photography.

Looking for 4 or 5 star accomodation for 8 day grand Teton and Yellowstone explorer tour.

    Accommodation
    • Southwest Adventure ToursOperatorWritten February 2026

Regarding your request for 4-5 star hotel upgrades, we can certainly accommodate this by converting the trip into a private custom tour. We do not offer hotel upgrades on our standard group tours, as the separate pick-up and drop-off locations would add driving time for the group. Please let us know if you are interested in a private custom tour, and we will be happy to provide additional information.

    Asked on January 26th, 2026

There will be 16 of us, including 5 couples (aged 71-35), the same family and 6 children (aged 7-1). Means of transport: van with kitchen or camping car? Accommodation: motel, rental, B&B? Catering: simple or picnic lunch We've already been on many family trips around the world, eating on the roadside or at markets like the locals at lunchtime, for example, a flexible and dynamic family for some ? Visit Moab in Yellowstone Spend time on a horse ranch, l'homme qui.... style (we take care of our own horses in France), discovering life in nature. Why not 1 or 2 or 3 days with a guide, rafting for some... In short, it's up to you - we don't really have any preconceived ideas.

Would it be possible to add another night at the Marriot Downton hotel before the start of the tour (night if 26th Sept)? Our travel from UK to SLC is easier on Saturday. If it is possible what would the additional charge be?

Yes, we can certainly add an additional pre-night hotel stay for you. The cost for this option would be $286. To add this to your booking, please contact us directly.

    • Southwest Adventure ToursOperatorWritten September 2025

You have to be able to hike 3-5 miles a day on this tour. You dont have to do more than a mile at a time. There are look out points you can stay back on if you do not want to go further with the group. The group will catch up with you on the way back in. Unfortunately if your husband is having mobility issues this tour will not be the best fit for him.

We are very interested in this tour for 2026 in August. There are 3 adults & would like a quote for 2 rooms....one double & one single. Also would like recommendations on adding a couple of days on the end for Glacier National Park on our own. We are all in our 70's.

The double price would be 3649.00 (included taxes and fees) per person and the single price would be 4,050(includes taxes and fees). This totals 11,348.00. I did not include and pre or post night hotels on this reservation because they have to be booked through our office.

    Asked on January 21st, 2025

Does unlevel refer to loose rocks and such or just up and down changes? Are the trails on wilderness trails upkept but still uneven paths?

    Tour Details
    • Southwest Adventure ToursOperatorWritten January 2025

On this tour there are hikes that are up to 3 miles round trip with an accumulated distance of about 5 miles through out the day. The trails are on wilderness trails, so they are upkept but still uneven paths and could have small rocks on them.

    Asked on December 11th, 2024

My wife and I are both in our mid 60s and I run quite a bit, for example I will be completing a half marathon at the end of March this year. However felicity (my wife) only does short walks and so she is trying to understand how tiring this would be so whilst the information you have provided is useful it doesnt tell the complete story. eg how much distance needs tio be covered in a single day? what is the balance between moving around in our transport v walking around (even my 1/2 marathon only takes up 2 hours. So I am still struggling with the effort required - especially as the tour description says "up to 90 yo" can do this tour.

    • Southwest Adventure ToursOperatorWritten December 2024

On this tour there are hikes that are up to 3 miles round trip, with an accumulated hiking distance of about 5 miles throughout the day. If Felicity is not feeling up to the hike, she is welcome to sit it out, but the group will still be doing the hike. Most of the places we stop to hike will have a lovely lookout point or picnic area for her to enjoy while the group hikes.
