Stanley Silver was a phenomenal guide. Very knowledgable, professional, and friendly. Stanley enjoys what he does and cares about his group. It isn't just a job for him. The whole porter team was incredible. Cannot describe how hard they work. Your job as a tourist is to get from point A to point B. The team does EVERYTHING else for you. Could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you for some unforgettable memories. I highly recommend Altezza.

It was an incredible journey. A Life time experience and not an easy challenge. With the help of the guides and the amazing crew I was able to reach the summit and accomplish my dream.

I am so glad I choose Altezsa for my Mt Kilimanjaro climb. The organization and planning was great, my equipment was checked and items were available for rent as needed. The guides I had were outstanding. They were professional and caring and were certified in high altitude wilderness first aid. We had health checks morning and night, and good information about how each day would go. The cook prepared wonderful and varied meals, 3 hot meals a day, with tea and snacks in between. The actual climb was hard hard, but all went well. Clearly such trips need careful and professional attention to details, and the Altezza team provided this.

I know that I was not able to provide any review of our experiences after we finished and while Philippa is providing her own response I thought I would do so as well. I have two separate experiences to respond to. My climb of Kilimanjaro was a wonderful experience. I was of course concerned the first few days when I did not have my bag, particularly the clothing I needed for the summit. Altezza was wonderful, both you and Victor in finding enough to get me started with under layers, gloves, boots and poles, etc. Without this I could not have started. Getting the bag to me as we reached summit camp made the final days possible and I was very relieved. As to the climb itself Victor was outstanding as my guide. He was patient and effective in “pole-pole” to ensure I made each phase. While it is a strenuous endeavor I felt ready for the challenge but needed the encouragement of Victor to make it happen. Victor and Joseph worked as a great team on summit day to make sure I made it. They had the confidence to keep me moving and reach the top. It was fun to hear from the other guides that they did not expect me to make it given that their “younger” clients were having more difficulty. I also must give credit to Edward and his food as the meals were surprising in their variety and completeness and the encouragement by Edward, Victor and Palo to get me to eat everything and drink lots of liquids when there is little interest in either. I kept on saying there was too much food there and had difficulty eating all but they were most gracious about it. I know it is more difficult to cook for only one but they really tried. I should also mention that I thought Victor did an excellent job on choosing a team. They were always enthusiastic and loved that Babo was doing okay. Every detail was always attended to on time and a smile was always there. The camps were always completely ready and everybody ensured that I was moving before they broke down and passed us so it was ready at the next point. I never saw where something was not done correctly. As to issues I struggle to think of anything. The weather was not cooperative but I did not expect otherwise and it was great that it was clear for the summit. Coming down was hard as the snow and rain made it slippery and the constant boulder stepping did make my legs feel weak at the bottom. Again Victor and Joseph did a great job of helping me so I did not fall coming down. Finally when we reached the Baranfu summit camp is was such a delight to have the whole team sing me the success song, which Victor added quite a few verses to reflecting me and the little things that I became known for. So in conclusion I can only say that the climb was a great experience and it was the thorough planning and execution by Victor and the team as well as from everybody at Altezza that made it possible. Young clients need to understand that conditioning and taking it slowly makes success more likely and puts less stress on the team. I am not sure what I can advise older clients as most will not have the experience and stamina that I still have. As to the safari we all really enjoyed the experiences as each day and each park was different and unique. We saw so many animals the first couple of days so seeing new animals became second to encountering them under different conditions and watching lions and cheetahs stalk their prey. When asked if we had a favorite it was difficult to answer as each had their place. I probably liked Lake Natron the least, not because of the experience but because of the long drive in both direction and less to see when we were there. However walking out on the lake bed with guide Sam and hiking to the waterfall were good experiences. The camp did an amazing job given the remoteness of the place. I should note that saying the walk to the waterfall was an easy hike and one that could be done with flip-flops is incorrect and strong sturdy shoes with good traction would have made it easier. Calla had the right shoes but I had waterproof running shoes with little gripping and had some difficulty. As to accommodations I felt the Serena lodges were very good. I was a little concerned that they were a little too much for tourists as they focused on entertainment in the bar prior to dinner and did a lot of buffets which are not my favorite. However the food was good and varied and we had plenty to eat. The designs were unique at each place, our rooms were always interesting and very well maintained, and the staff at each place was well trained and courteous. I also cannot say enough as to how accommodating they were as at each place the chef personally worked with Calla to make sure she had a great meal given her diet issues. They did this for every meal and even for the lunch boxes. In talking amongst us the one thing we would have done differently would have been to have two nights at a lodge sooner in the itinerary. Doing one night stays every nigh for the first five nights and driving all day took its toll as we all became quite tired of the driving. Finally I can again not say enough of Omary. His knowledge of animals, birds and plants was exceptional and his ability to spot animals was fantastic. His English is quite good so we had lots of conversations which made the time pass quickly on the long drives. Initially we were thrilled to spot an animal in the distance and as we progressed they were virtually up close and personal which greatly added to the experience. His driving was extraordinary given the roads and the other guide drivers. We were always in a good position to see the animals and most times always in the preferred place as he anticipated what was going to happen.. I also cannot thank Ekaterina enough as she fielded so many questions from me, Philippa and Calla prior to the trip and helped us put together an itinerary that was what we wanted rather than just what was offered, which is what we got from inquiries to other tour operators, even the deluxe ones. If that was not enough Ekaterina had to deal with my missed flight to Arusha because the schedule changed and I was not aware. She had to deal with my delayed baggage, getting me equipment so I could begin the climb and then getting the bag to me on the mountain three days later. Then she had to deal with the delayed luggage for Philippa and Calla for five days, and then the difficulties when all of Calla’s contents were stolen. Then is not enough dealing without credit card information being stolen at one of the lodges. Fortunately we had fraud alert and were notified and the problem halted with a couple of hours of the occurrence. With regard to the card problem it would be good to inform clients to let their bank card issuers know where they are traveling and to have email or text communications in place so that suspicious activity can quickly be flagged.. I am having difficulty thinking of anything that was not done well or anything I would change. For me, and I think for Philippa and Calla as well, it has been a remarkable trip and adventure, enhanced by the efforts of Altezza to make it an experience we will always remember. We look forward to sharing the memories and pictures with our friends and hopefully some day one of them will follow our lead and use Altezza.

Dear Altezza Travel team! Thank you very much for the organization of the climb Kilimanjaro in February 2016. Everything was prepared at the highest level. The high-altitude acclimatization was a success, due to your recommendations, my physical training was in conformity with the requirements. Drivers, guides and porters worked perfectly. Employees and administration of Altezza company took swift action in response to our demands including individual requirements and wishes. They have always been in touch. I was pleasantly surprised by European style of doing business and customer focus of company in such country as Tanzania with an absolutely different mentality and a local color. Thank you very much for your great work. See you again!

It is a good company. They organized our meeting, accommodation and climbing at the highest level. The guide and porters are very sociable and friendly. I am very happy to get new unforgettable impressions. My special thanks to my guide named Rashid. He is very attentive and meticulous. He scrupulously watched my health and wellbeing. In hard time he shared his raincoat with me. He is a very good man!!! Due to him I improved my knowledge of English and overcame language barrier. I also want to thank all team that accompanied me: Yuda, Godfrey, Emmanuel, Isaya, Richard, Rajabu and Abdalah. By the way, do not worry about food. The cook will note your wishes and cook meals that you want. The most important is not lose the appetite at an altitude. I would like to tell those who decided to climb that the main thing is to believe in yourself and properly count your forces. During all route you will be measured the oxygen level in blood and the pulse rate. Listen to the guide and choose the right speed. Good luck to everyone! And lastly I want to thank manager Svetlana for the good tips and well organized work.

My two-weeks adventure in Africa is over! All stuff are unpacked, and all the impressions, more or less , arranged on the shelves. The trip was more than spontaneous, I was traveling alone, and my knowledge of the language was so poor and little, however with Altezza Travel I did not even think about difficulties and organizational matters, only admired the local scenery and enjoyed the adventure! :-) Usually, I’m planning the journey by myself, during the process you often realize that something is missing. But when I have returned from this trip, I understand that more intensely and perfectly I would not travel! I joined the group of wonderful people, terribly miss them now, and the service was so great that I would not change a thing! Despite the fact that the ascent itself was challenging, the whole group summited, and we would not do it without help of our professional guides, who followed our needs, speed, health, supported and helped, and even forced, for example, to eat or to sleep when it is needed, and during the summit never left us alone. Safari, I have to say, is not only exotic animals in their natural environment and African landscapes, but also fine hotels and beer in the evening. Thank you so much for such a fabulous trip! ^^

From 5 to 12 July 2017, Altezza Travel arranged me an ascent to the Uhuru Peak. Everything ran well: from the flight from Istanbul to the climb. I would like to thank both organizers and an excellent team led by the guide Shabani. It is a well-coordinated team of professionals. We did it together! Thank you, guys!
