What's the typical duration of tours starting in Amsterdam?

Tours from Amsterdam span 4-10 days. City exploration tours generally take 4-5 days while river cruises run 7-8 days. Travelers can expect stays at recognized properties like the 5-star Hotel Mitland in Utrecht or Movenpick Hotel in The Hague. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The 8-day cruise was the perfect length to see both major cities and small villages at a relaxed pace."

What's the best time to start a tour from Amsterdam?

The high season runs April through September. Spring visitors often plan around tulip season and Keukenhof Gardens while summer brings ideal conditions for canal cruises and walking tours. Year-round accommodations include the Westcord Fashion Hotel and SS Rotterdam. According to a TourRadar traveler: "We started our tour in early May and the tulip fields were in full bloom - absolutely perfect timing."

What are the most popular hotel options for tours starting in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam tours feature diverse lodging options from the centrally located 4-star Hotel Mai Amsterdam to the business district's Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City. River cruise vessels like the Amadeus Riva and Scenic Jasper serve as floating hotels with river views. A TourRadar guest noted: "The Hotel Mai Amsterdam was perfectly located for exploring the city while the Amadeus Riva provided exceptional comfort during our cruise." Most accommodations sit within walking distance of Dam Square and the canal district.

What are the most common destinations visited right after Amsterdam?

Post-Amsterdam itineraries often include nearby Zaanse Schans (30 minutes away) Volendam (45 minutes) and Keukenhof Gardens (40 minutes) before moving on to Rotterdam or The Hague. The Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam South serves as a practical base for these routes. One TourRadar traveler shared: "The flow from Amsterdam to the windmills of Zaanse Schans and then the fishing village of Volendam was perfectly planned."

What's the best time to experience tulip season when starting a tour from Amsterdam?

Tulip viewing peaks from late March to mid-May with Keukenhof Gardens serving as the main attraction outside Amsterdam. The gardens display over 7 million flowering bulbs across 70 acres. Tours provide direct transport from central Amsterdam. Properties like the Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam South and Bilderberg Garden offer convenient access to both city attractions and tulip fields. A TourRadar visitor noted: "The tulips were in peak bloom making for an absolutely breathtaking experience!"

Are airport transfers included for tours starting in Amsterdam?

Most packages include pickup from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to downtown hotels such as the Westcord Fashion Hotel or SS Rotterdam. Transfer services run throughout the day though afternoon arrivals work best for evening welcome events. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "The included airport pickup made our arrival stress-free and got us to the hotel efficiently."
