  Just wrapped up the most incredible 13-day journey through Laos—truly the trip of a lifetime! Starting in serene Luang Prabang, the Pak Ou Caves boat trip felt magical with thousands of Buddha statues tucked into limestone cliffs along the Mekong. The smooth express train rides (Luang Prabang to Oudomxay, then to Luang Namtha and Vang Vieng) were a game-changer—fast, comfortable, and scenic through lush mountains. Loved the off-the-beaten-path vibes: relaxing at stunning Namkat Yolapa waterfalls, exploring ethnic villages around Muang La and Muang Sing, and the karst beauty of Vang Vieng with Tham Phoutham caves. Vientiane's peaceful Buddha Park was a quirky highlight. Then south to the Bolaven Plateau's coffee plantations and waterfalls, ancient Wat Phou ruins, and the dreamy 4000 Islands—Khong and Khone Islands felt like paradise with lazy Mekong days and dolphin spotting. Everything flowed perfectly: friendly guides, delicious local meals (B,L included), authentic experiences without crowds. Laos stole my heart—raw, beautiful, and so welcoming. 10/10, do this tour if you want real Laos!Show more

  This tour transports you from city to city - mostly by train - so there is a different guide in each city. This means a different experience in each city, some good, some terrible. You also have to deal with very low English proficiency - a couple guides were unable to answer my questions because they didn’t understand what I was saying. There was also a high degree of inflexibility with some guides, even though I was the only person on the tour and they should have been able to adapt and not do the things I didn’t want to do.Show more

  I enjoyed my special, memorable and often untouristy journey in Central Laos. I was lucky enough to have my own one on one guide and driver. Vone shared his local knowledge with me without drowning me in too many historical details that I would not remember. I got to see and understand the lives of the poor but hardworking local peoples. This was special. Apart from the stunning beauty of the natural surroundings. Even tho we had very little sun and lots of cloud and mist, there was plenty of atmosphere. And to visit and photograph all the intricate temples and wat. Again, casual enough not to be overwhelmed by them all. Vone was genuine and sincere. Just a pity the roads are so horrendously broken and rough and winding. Not pleasant driving conditions. But worth it when you finally reach another interesting destination! I will remember Laos and her people fondly.Show more

  This was a very good tour that was organised only a few days before we left for Laos and at the peak of the Chinese New Year holiday. The accommodation was very good and in some places we had a superior room. InLuang Prabang we had 3 nights in a top rated hotel. The driver was excellent and at no time did we feel unsafe despite some of the roads being uneven and bumpy to say the least. The 9 hours drive from Phonsavan to Luang Prabang was very arduous due to the majority of the road being hairpin bends and winding. Luckily the minivan that we had was top rate with water and wet hand towels provided. If you are prone to motion sickness take travel tablets as 2 of the days involve travel on very winding roads. Having said that the scenery is magnificent and it’s something not to be missed. I would say that the itinerary was very interesting and varied and the trip to the elephant village was a particular highlight. There you are able to ride an elephant with no howdah. they use no seats or hooks or sticks, just sit on top of the elephant with the mahout and he just gives verbal instructions to get the elephant to walk down into the river. It’s the most amazing experience for about 45 mins. We then had a jungle trek to a village where we had lunch in the shamen’s house and were able to wander around the village to appreciate their way of life. Another trek for a couple of hours to the Tad sae waterfalls. ( dry due to the season) . This 8 day tour combines city, culture, history, nature and trekking and I nearly forgot the half day Mekong river trip in Luang Prabang that takes you to Patou caves which was a delightful experience in itself. A varied mixture well put together with good accommodation and attentive guides and driver. Show more
