    Reply from: Exodus Adventure Travels
We would like to thank David for his review, and hope he enjoyed his time in Costa Rica overall, though we are sorry to read that he was disappointed with some aspects of the tour. We find that our clients are generally happy with the level of information provided in the trip notes, but should a customer wish to find out more, they are always welcome to request a call with one of our trip experts who have done the tour. We also have not received feedback in the past to indicate that the activities on this trip are more strenuous than we indicate on our trip notes, though we will continue to monitor the comments we get and will make changes to our tour literature if other customers express the same concerns as David. We were very sorry to read David’s comments regarding the accommodation we use in Cahuita. This is one of the most humid areas we visit on the tour, but we would always want to provide our customers with clean accommodation, and we have asked David’s tour leader, Eduardo, to give his opinion about the rooms at this property. Eduardo examined David’s room at the time, and did not observe any mould or mildew, and, having investigated the feedback we received from other members of David’s group, we would note that other Exodus clients remarked positively about the cleanliness of their rooms. We are, however, very sorry that this does not reflect David’s experience, and regret that he consequently chose to spend his time in Cahuita at an alternative property. -Exodus Travels

Do you have any sales running?

    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten April 2026

With an itinerary like this, which includes rainforest, dry forest and both the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, rain in Costa Rica is quite common. It's what makes the landscapes so lush and green.

That said, February through early April tends to be the best balance overall. The Pacific side (including the Osa Peninsula) is at its driest, the Central Valley and volcano areas are generally clear, and while the Caribbean side can still see showers, it's tropical.

To share my own experience: I travelled in January, and on the rainforest side it rained for a few days — which is pretty unavoidable in these regions. Once we moved over to the Pacific coast, it was sunny with no rain at all.
It really highlighted how dramatically weather can change depending on where you are in the country.

If you're comfortable with some rain in exchange for incredible wildlife, fewer crowds, and vibrant scenery, Costa Rica delivers year‐round; but for the lowest chance of disruption across this full route, late February to March is a great window.

Our tours tend to sell out early especially between Jan to Mar so it is advisable to book early.

We don't currently have any promotions on our 2027 tours, but dates in 2026 up to September are on offer right now.

Would hiking sticks be useful in Turrialba on the Coastal Secrets trip?

    Tour Details
    • Exodus Adventure TravelsOperatorWritten November 2023

Hiking sticks are not mandatory, but I do find them handy. If you find walks much easier with them, I definitely suggest bringing them (if you are bringing check-in luggage). It is common to encounter quite a bit of rain in Costa Rica in certain regions, so the paths can get slippery/muddy.
