Itinerary
- Day 1
Marlay Park to Coolakay
You'll start at Marlay Park in South Dublin and begin heading up through the Dublin hills with the city and coastline spreading out below. The route takes you past Fairy Castle and through Glencullen Forest, so there's plenty of tree cover for the early part of the walk. By the end of the day, you'll reach Enniskerry village on the outskirts, having covered a nice introductory section that builds your legs for what's ahead.

- Day 2
Coolakay to Old Bridge
This day moves you through Crone Wood and then along Powerscourt Waterfall, which is worth stopping to see. From there, you'll hike around Djouce Mountain and come across Lough Tay, that lake that got famous from being in the Braveheart film. The walk finishes at Roundwood, so you'll have covered solid terrain and gained some good elevation as the day progresses.

Old Bridge to Laragh
A shorter walking day this time, which gives your legs a bit of a break. You'll travel through quiet country roads and then Paddock Hill, a bird sanctuary where Irish Red Grouse live. Winding grassy tracks take you higher with views down into Glendalough Valley. By evening, you'll arrive at Glendalough, the 6th century monastic site, so there's some history to explore after you finish walking.

- Day 4
Laragh to Glenmalure
Starting from Glendalough valley, you'll hike alongside both the lower and upper lakes using the Spinc trail, which has steep sections so you'll feel the work. Once you've climbed up, you get views across the entire valley stretching out. Then you head around Mullacor Mountain and drop down into Glenmalure, a historic valley tied to the 1798 battles, so there's real significance to the landscape around you.

- Day 5
Glenmalure to Iron Bridge
Beginning at Drumgoff crossroads, you'll hike past the ruins of old British Army barracks to Drumgoff Gap. From there, the route descends through forest tracks and grassy roads, and you'll pass the Ow Valley sitting at the base of Lugnaquilla, which is the highest mountain in Leinster. The walk ends at Ironbridge where transport picks you up, so it's a full day of decent hiking.

Iron Bridge to Tinahealy
You'll restart at Ironbridge and take a more gradual route this time, heading across Ballyteigue Bridge toward Ballygobban Mountain. Walking through Sheilstown Forest and along quiet country roads and grassy hillside paths, you're getting into more remote territory. The day finishes in the rural village of Tinahealy, which is a small settlement but good for food and rest.

Tinahealy to Shillelagh
This day follows the Muskeagh Boreen to Mullinacuff and then Stranakelly Crossroads, and this is when you'll cross the 100km mark if you want to celebrate at Tallon's Pub, known locally as 'The Dying Cow'. After that, you'll move through tiny country lanes and forestry trails before reaching Shillelagh, an estate village where you can settle in for the evening.

Departure
