  Overall, the Canadian Rockies are breathtaking, and the natural beauty was the true value of our trip. However, our experience was repeatedly spoiled by our Intrepid guide, S. W. She lacked the necessary experience, was unhelpful, and lacked basic knowledge of Canada’s attractions and history. Her attitude was rude, self-centered, and authoritarian.As experienced travelers who have taken numerous organized tours, we have never encountered such poor service. While the guide’s behavior was unacceptable, we ultimately hold Intrepid responsible for appointing an unqualified individual to lead a highly expensive, once-in-a-lifetime trip.Specific issues we encountered included:Lack of Knowledge & Guidance: From day one, she was unfamiliar with the tour itinerary. Her instructions were consistently unclear. She could not provide basic information about trails or activities, often resort to reading informational signs aloud to us rather than offering guiding insights.Disregard for Passenger Well-being: She offered no specialized support or consideration for the several passengers over the age of 60 on our tour.Inappropriate Demands: She treated the group like servants. She made us dismantle her personal camping tent and load her gear into the van. On one occasion, she forced the group to stop relaxing after a short 45-minute rest at the beach to begin cooking at 4:30 PM solely because she explicitly stated she was hungry.Inefficient Time Management: She forced the group to prepare overly complex meals that required extensive cooking and cleanup time. This directly stripped away hours we should have spent exploring the Rockies. Furthermore, she routinely scolded the group, telling us we needed to be "more efficient leaving the van."On the final day, the guide admitted that her previous Intrepid group also complained about her service. It is highly disappointing that Intrepid allowed these performance issues to impact a second group of paying customers.We did not receive the experience, service, or support expected for a trip of this scale and price. We are happy to provide further details and expect a formal response from management regarding how this will be resolved.Show more

  The Canadian Rockies are absolutely stunning, but our experience was severely spoiled by our Intrepid guide, Sophie W. She was highly unprofessional, inexperienced, and treated our tour group with an authoritarian attitude. While she is at fault, Intrepid Travel is ultimately responsible for sending an untrained guide on a very expensive, complex itinerary.As experienced travelers, we have never encountered service this poor. From day one, she was completely ignorant of the itinerary, trails, and local history. She offered no support to the senior travelers in our group. Instead, she treated us like personal help—making us pack up her tent, load her gear, and cook heavy meals exactly when she demanded it (once forcing us to cook at 4:30 PM because she was hungry, ruining our beach rest). She openly admitted that her previous tour group had also complained about her, meaning Intrepid knew she was underperforming and still assigned her to our group.We did not get the premium experience or support we paid for. It was a deeply disappointing trip, and we are currently seeking a formal resolution from management. Avoid this tour unless Intrepid ensures better vetting for their guides.Show more

  After paying more than CAD 4800 , the facilities were so poor and lacking. I was wrongly told that basic camping will be only for two days .Even in basic camping the water and charging facilities were at a distance of more than half a km. This was not expected from Tour Radar and Intrepid Travels. I have traveled with you earlier also but was never cheated. Anyway thanks for your hospitality.Show more

Our Canadian Rockies trip includes two nights of camping with basic facilities, alongside a further eleven nights of camping at sites with facilities. We endeavour to be transparent about the style of accommodation our travellers can expect by outlining this within both the day-by-day itinerary and the accommodation section of our trip notes prior to departure, including the facilities that are generally available at the campsites used throughout the trip.
