- Day 1
Rangwi
You'll walk through Magamba rainforest this morning looking for black and white colobus monkeys while your guide explains the area's colonial past, including a historic WWI German trench from when the British and Germans fought here. After exploring the rainforest, you'll take public transport to Rangwi Catholic Mission where you'll have dinner and spend your first night.

- Day 2
Rangwi to Mtae
Following breakfast, you'll head into traditional Washambaa villages to see how people live and spend time with a pottery women's group. Then it's on to Mtae viewpoint, where the views stretch across Maasai plains, Mkomazi game reserve, and Tsavo West, so you might catch Kilimanjaro in the distance if the weather cooperates. This spot works great for both sunrise and sunset before you settle in at your lodge.

Mtae to Mazumbai
After breakfast, you'll drive to Sakharani Mission to check out a vineyard and learn how locals make grape wine. From there, it's on to Herkulu village where tea farms and the tea factory show you how tea gets cultivated, processed, and produced in the region. You'll wrap up the day at Mazumbai Forest Hostel for your overnight stay.

Mazumbai Rainforest
You're hiking all day through Mazumbai rainforest in the Western Usambara Mountains, walking through primary forest while watching for black and white colobus monkeys, birds, colorful flowers, chameleons, butterflies, and various insects. By evening you'll be at Mazumbai Rest House for your overnight stay.
