    Asked on May 3rd, 2026

My partner is vegan and we prefer twin bed. What type of accommodation?

    Accommodation
    Meals
    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten May 2026

Accommodation in hotels can be arranged in twin rooms throughout the program.

The itinerary includes one overnight stay in a yurt camp in Kyrgyzstan, where twin accommodation is available. The yurts are comfortable and equipped with private en-suite bathrooms.

A similar experience is planned at the yurt camp near the Darvaza Crater in Turkmenistan. There, yurts usually accommodate 2–4 people (from the same group and of the same gender), and bathroom facilities are located outside the yurts. This is a more field-style experience, offering a truly authentic stay in the desert under the open sky.

These are the only exceptions - all other nights along the route are in clean and comfortable tourist-class hotels.

Regarding meals, vegetarian options can be arranged, and such options are also generally available in most locations along the route.

  • B

    Brian

    Asked on April 23rd, 2026

We hold USA passports, and are interested in the five-stans tour. Do you offer assistance to the Turkmenistan visa application?

    Visa
    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten April 2026

Yes, we do provide assistance with the Turkmenistan visa invitation. We are responsible for the visa invitation, and based on it, you will get a visa on arrival.

      Kyrgyzstan - visa-free
      Kazakhstan - visa-free
      Tajikistan - visa-free
      Uzbekistan - visa-free
Turkmenistan - visa invitation + visa on arrival

A Turkmenistan visa can be obtained upon arrival at a land border checkpoint (payment on the spot: approximately $100–$120 per person + PCR test fee of $33 per person). However, a visa is issued based on a visa invitation approved by the Turkmenistan Migration Service, and we will assist you with this process.

To proceed, we will need the following documents from you:
      • A scanned color copy of your passport (high quality)
      • A recent passport-sized photo
      • A completed application form

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your departure from the region.

We will submit the visa invitation request for the entire group 30 days before the tour starts. The approval process takes approximately three weeks. Once the visa invitation is ready, we will send you a scanned copy, which you will need to print and present to immigration officials upon arrival to obtain your visa.

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten April 2026

      Accommodation Information:
The itinerary includes one overnight stay in a yurt camp in Kyrgyzstan, where only twin accommodation is available. Due to the limited number of yurts, single occupancy cannot be provided at this property. You will therefore share a twin room with another participant of the same gender from your group. The yurts are comfortable and equipped with private en-suite bathrooms.

A similar arrangement applies at the yurt camp near the Darvaza Crater in Turkmenistan. There, yurts typically accommodate 2–4 people, and bathroom facilities are located outside the yurts. This is a more field-style experience, offering a truly authentic desert stay under the open sky.

These are the only exceptions within the program. All other nights along the route will be in clean, comfortable tourist-class hotels.

      Additional Expenses for This Trip:
      • Turkmenistan visa fee: $100–$120 per person (to be paid on arrival) + PCR test: $42 per person
      • Tourist fee in Turkmenistan: $2 per person per night, charged by hotels (for a total of 3 nights = $6 per person, payable at the hotel in Ashgabat)
      • Meals: $15–$20 per meal (to be paid on the spot, except those meals which are included in the program)
      • Personal expenses

Are the PCR test and the meals to be paid on the spot for all the five countries or just in Turkmenistan? Can we choose our own meals in stead, as we would be cautious in getting used to the local food?

What would happen if the Turkmenistan visa application is not approved?

    • B

      Brian

      TravelerWritten April 2026

The first day schedule of the tour itinerary is a little confusing. The tour starts at Bishkek in the morning, assuming we all have to arrive at Bishkek in the early morning on that day. Suppose people usually arrive on the day before the tour starts, and meet your representatives at the airport.

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten April 2026

The PCR test in Turkmenistan is paid upon arrival, so kindly prepare cash in USD for this purpose.

Regarding meals, only some meals are included in the program. All other lunches and dinners are at your own choice and can be paid on the spot. In Turkmenistan, payments are usually made in cash (your guide will assist with exchanging USD into local currency), while in the other countries both cash and credit cards are generally accepted.

Yes, of course, you will be free to choose where to have your meals during the tour.

The PCR procedure in Turkmenistan is mostly formal - there is no quarantine. After the test, you will be able to continue your journey as planned.

In recent years, there have been no issues with visa invitations for Turkmenistan - they are issued as expected.

The city tour starts on Day 1 at 10:00 in Bishkek. You may arrive either early in the morning on Day 1 with an immediate hotel check-in OR one day in advance followed by a standard hotel check-in from 14:00. If you arrive early on the previous day and wish to check in immediately, an additional night will need to be booked.

Airport transfers on arrival and departure are included in the package.
