Casablanca
You'll land in Casablanca and have time to check out the Hassan II Mosque, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. After that, walk through the old medina where you'll find yourself surrounded by the energy of local vendors, street food, and narrow winding streets. The atmosphere here is vibrant and chaotic in the best way. Stay the night in Casablanca.

- Day 2
Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen
Head out from Casablanca toward Rabat, the capital city. There you'll see Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas, both important historical sites with interesting architecture and views. From there, drive south to Chefchaouen, which sits in the Rif Mountains. The town's blue-painted buildings are everywhere, creating a unique and distinctive look that you won't find many other places.

- Day 3
Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes
Start by wandering through Chefchaouen's blue medina early in the day, checking out local markets and heading up to the mountain viewpoints for perspective of the whole town. Travel south to Volubilis to see Roman ruins with mosaics and arches set among olive groves. Continue to Meknes, visiting the grand Bab Mansour gate, El Hedim Square, the Royal Stables, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Later, drive to Fes and spend your evening in the ancient medina.

Fes
Spend your entire day in Fes Medina, one of the oldest cities still actively lived in today. The narrow alleyways are confusing but rewarding to walk through, and you'll find bustling souks and workshops everywhere. Visit Al Quaraouiyine University, Bou Inania Madrasa, and Nejjarine Fountain to understand the historical depth. The tanneries are worth seeing too, though they do smell quite strong.

Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga
Leave Fes and travel through varied landscapes including Ifrane's cedar forests, Midelt's mountains, and Ziz Valley's palm groves. You'll arrive in Merzouga by afternoon, your entry point to the Sahara. In the late afternoon, get on a camel and head into the dunes. Watch the sunset from the desert, then spend the night at a camp under the stars.

Merzouga
Spend the day exploring Merzouga and the surrounding desert landscape. Take camel treks through the dunes at different times of day. Visit Khamlia Village if you're interested in traditional Gnawa music. During the afternoon, head to Merzouga Lake to see the water reflecting the dunes and sky. This is a good day to slow down and take in the quietness of the Sahara.

Erg Chebbi - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges
Start at Erg Chebbi with endless sand dunes stretching across the horizon. Ride camels and catch the sunrise, which transforms the color of the sand. Move on to Erfoud, a town known for its fossils and desert setting. Continue through Todra Gorges where canyon walls rise high on both sides and you can walk along palm-lined paths. Finish the day in Dades Gorges with its dramatic cliffs and traditional kasbahs.

Dades Gorges - Valley of Roses - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech
Leave Dades Gorges and head toward the Valley of Roses, where rose fields cover the landscape and local women work in cooperatives. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site with clay-built structures that have appeared in several films. Cross through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass, getting views of the surrounding peaks. Arrive in Marrakech later in the afternoon and begin exploring the souks and Jemaa el-Fna Square.

Marrakech
Dedicate the day to Marrakech's main attractions. The Jemaa el-Fna Square is busy with performers, food vendors, and crowds, particularly in late afternoon. Walk through the medina's colorful souks where merchants sell textiles, spices, and crafts. Visit Bahia Palace to see ornate rooms and courtyards, and see Koutoubia Mosque from outside. The Majorelle Garden offers peaceful greenery away from the hustle, and Saadian Tombs show you historical burial sites.

Drive from Marrakech to Essaouira on the coast, a coastal town with blue fishing boats in the harbor and a distinct atmosphere from inland Morocco. Wander through the medina's streets and explore the port area. You'll find fresh seafood restaurants where you can grab lunch or dinner overlooking the ocean. The beaches here are nice for a walk, and the sea breeze is refreshing.
