Kaysersberg
You'll arrive in Kaysersberg, the birthplace of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, and get settled into your accommodation. The town has those characteristic half-timbered houses lining the streets, so take some time to walk around and get your bearings. Kaysersberg to Lapoutroie
Today you're hiking about 18 km from Kaysersberg to Lapoutroie. The route starts with a steady climb through shaded forest, then opens up to rolling countryside where you'll pass traditional Vosges farmhouses. You'll go through Orbey around lunchtime, which gives you a good spot to stop and eat, then finish with forest trails leading into Lapoutroie. The town is known for its brandies and cheese, so you'll get a sense of that as you arrive.

Le Bonhomme to Lapoutroie
A short transfer takes you to Le Bonhomme, and from there you'll hike about 11 km to Lapoutroie. This route goes through the Tête des Faux summit area, so you'll climb past the Duchesne Cemetery, which is a First World War memorial. The Tête des Faux itself offers panoramic views and you can see German WWI bunkers there. On the way down you'll pass Étang du Devin, a mountain pond that's nice for a lunch break before you reach Lapoutroie.

Along the way you'll come across the ruins of Château de Hohnack and a German military cemetery, which add historical context to the walk. Munster itself is worth exploring once you arrive, as it's known for its cultural heritage and the famous Munster cheese produced in the area.

Munster
Starting from Auberge du Ried, you'll do a circular hike that goes through forests and alpine pastures up to Petit Ballon summit at 1,272 m, one of the main peaks in the Vosges. The descent takes you past traditional farm inns and historical sites through quieter forest paths back to where you started. Later you'll have a classic blueberry tart at the auberge, then take a taxi back to Munster for your final night.
