- Day 1
Porto
Start your trip by walking along the Douro River's banks in Porto. You'll get a feel for the city's riverside character and sample some of the region's famous port wine. This is a good way to ease into the trip and get oriented.

- Day 2
Porto to Atlantic Coast
Head across the Douro early in the morning and hop on your bike to cycle past the port wine cellars. After that, you'll transition away from the city and head south toward the Atlantic coast, riding along sandy beaches and through pine forests. By evening, you'll reach your overnight spot, a town known for treating visitors well and serving excellent fish.

Landmarks Douro River - Day 3
Aveiro Lagoon to Aveiro
Bike around the Aveiro lagoon with water and nature surrounding you. Stop at the São Jacinto nature reserve to watch birds or see how salt is pulled from the salt pans. Then take the ferry across to Aveiro itself, sometimes called the Venice of Portugal for its canals and traditional Moliceiros boats.

Costa Nova
Cycle from Rio Aveiro down to Costa Nova and get photos of the colorful striped beach houses there. From there, keep riding leisurely south to your destination. Once you arrive, spend time walking along the long sandy beaches and taking in the quiet seaside resort feel.

Landmarks Costa Nova - Day 5
Figueira da Foz
Ride through rolling dunes and pine forests where crickets fill the air around you. Soon you'll spot cliffs appearing ahead as the road gets more dramatic, leading toward Cabo Mondego lighthouse and on into Figueira da Foz. This town has plenty of restaurants, winding alleyways with character, small cafes, and a nice beach.

Figueira da Foz to Cascais via Sintra
In the morning, transfer to Sintra with its royal palaces and old manor houses scattered around. Then you'll descend steeply back down toward the coast, with great sea views and pretty sandy coves along the way. The route climbs up to Cascais where you're staying, which has a beautiful promenade.

- Day 7
Cascais to Lisbon
Bike directly along the riverbank to Estoril first, then keep going toward the mouth of the Tagus. You'll pass the famous Tower of Belem and pedal under Lisbon's big suspension bridge. Continue along the Tagus to your hotel in the modern Orient neighborhood of the city.
