Vigo
You'll arrive in Vigo, Spain's largest fishing port, and have time to walk through the old town where local restaurants serve up Galician food. The shopping streets in the city center are worth checking out, and from various spots around town you can see the Cedes Islands on the horizon. It's a good day to get your bearings and settle in before the walking starts.

- Day 2
Vigo to Redondela
Your first walking day takes you from Vigo toward Redondela along the Senda da Traida das Augas trail, where the Camino Portuguese meets its inland route. The path goes near Trasmaño, and if you're interested you can take an optional 5km detour to see a waterfall there. Forests and estuaries line the way, so it's a nice introduction to the landscape you'll be seeing over the next few days.

Redondela to Pontevedra
From Redondela you'll head through Cesantes and Arcade, the latter being known for its oysters. The route follows the Ría de Vigo estuary, passing through lush forests and taking you to the historic Ponte Sampaio before arriving in Pontevedra. This stage lets you see the estuary landscape and coastal influences that shape this part of Galicia.

Landmarks Ponte Sampaio - Day 4
Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis
This is a quieter stage with level terrain as you walk from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis, passing through various villages without too much elevation change. Caldas de Reis is known for its spas, so if your legs need some attention you can stop for a soak at one of the local facilities.

- Day 5
Caldas de Reis to Padrón
One of the more scenic walking days, you'll move through vineyards, grain fields, the Bermana valley, chestnut forests, and eucalyptus trees that really show off agricultural Galicia. You'll end in Padrón where you should try the famous pimientos de Padrón peppers at dinner. It's a different kind of landscape compared to the earlier days.

Padrón to Santiago de Compostela
The final walking stage brings you from Padrón toward Santiago de Compostela. You'll cross the N-550 road several times, and the railroad line will guide you as you head toward Iria Flavia. After that comes the ascent to O Milladoiro, where you'll start seeing the cathedral towers of Santiago coming into view as you get closer to your destination.

- Day 7
Santiago de Compostela
You'll spend the day exploring Santiago de Compostela's Renaissance and Baroque architecture, with the cathedral dominating the skyline. A guided city tour takes you through the cathedral, the Pórtico de la Gloria, and the tomb of St. James. Later you'll participate in the pilgrimage service, then you'll have free time in the afternoon to wander on your own. The day ends with a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant in the old town.
