Our Tibet tour was packed with authentic culturally rich experiences. Our guide Pinto was outstanding, he went above and beyond the scope of his responsibilities in every way possible. He was friendly, genuine, entertaining, and extremely knowledgeable. He possesses a deep passion for his culture and religion, and shares his knowledge in a clear and interesting manner. Pinto fielded our endless questions with enthusiasm, and never made us feel like we were bothering him. We were always given options about meals and the scheduled experiences and how much time we wanted. At meals in restaurants, Pinto translated menus for us or negotiated special dietary requests on our behalf. He also went as far as serving us beverages and food, when the restaurant staff were busy, before sitting down to his own meal. While shopping, Pinto translated for us and helped negotiate fair prices. Each of our questions or requests was received warmly by Pinto. Pinto also provided information about other itineraries or opportunities available from his company, when we asked about future visits to Tibet. Pinto was amazing and we would request him again, if we return to Tibet.Show more

  What about the Tibet Travel Permit? How is it sent to us? Also, we are planning to arrive by train from Xining. Do you have any advice on booking and timing?

  We will take care of the Tibet Travel Permit application process for you. If you are staying overnight in Xining, we can arrange to send the permit to your hotel in Xining free of charge, so you can collect it before taking the train to Tibet. If you are not staying overnight in Xining and only have a flight connection at the airport before heading to Lhasa, we can arrange for our staff to deliver the permit to you at the airport during your transit time. Please note that an additional delivery fee will apply for this arrangement. For the train journey from Xining to Lhasa, you may choose any suitable train schedule based on your preference. No matter which train you take, our driver will be waiting to pick you up upon your arrival in Lhasa and transfer you to your hotel safely.

  For the Everest Base Camp section, we arrange accommodation at the tent camp, which is the standard accommodation option at EBC. The EBC tent camp provides shared public restroom facilities. There are no private bathrooms in the tents; only squat toilets are available, and shower facilities are not available at the camp. Due to the high altitude and remote location, the accommodation conditions are quite basic, but it offers the unique experience of staying near Mount Everest and enjoying the incredible Himalayan scenery.

  Yes, you will need to have the Tibet Travel Permit (Tibet Entry Permit) before boarding the train or taking a flight to Lhasa. The permit will be checked by the transportation staff before you are allowed to enter Tibet. Therefore, we need to arrange the permit in advance and make sure it reaches you before your departure to Lhasa. Depending on your travel plan, we can either send it to your hotel in advance or arrange delivery to the airport or train station.

  We have been exploring tour options; perhaps 10 days to include EBC. However, the most challenging part seems to be getting the evening train from Xining (our preference would be train in, fly out). Any suggestions/advice?

  Regarding your preferred arrangement — taking the train from Xining to Lhasa and flying out from Lhasa — this is a very good option and completely workable. For the train journey, you can book the ticket yourself and choose the departure time that works best for you. As long as your train arrives in Lhasa between 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM, we will arrange a private transfer to pick you up at the station and take you to your hotel. For the departure, flying out of Lhasa is also convenient. If your schedule allows, you may consider flying to Chengdu after Tibet. Chengdu is a wonderful place to visit, especially for seeing the famous giant pandas, and you can then connect your onward flight.

  Is there some way to insert an early morning tour to Everest Base Camp including driving through mountain passes, visiting Ronbuk Monastery and hiking to Everest Base Camp?
