- Day 1
Lhasa
You'll land at Lhasa airport where your guide meets you and takes you to your hotel for check-in. Spend the rest of the day resting and getting used to Tibet's high altitude of about 11,975 feet/3,650 meters. This is important since the thin air can make you feel tired, so take it easy and stay hydrated throughout the afternoon.

Landmarks Lhasa Airport - Day 2
Lhasa - Kadinggou - Nyingchi
Leave Lhasa early and drive about an hour to Kadinggou, a scenic gorge with deep ravines, mountain streams, virgin forests, and bamboo groves. You'll walk through the area and get some good views before heading back to the vehicle. From there, you'll take the Lalin Expressway toward Nyingchi, which is considered one of China's most beautiful highways. Along the route, you'll pass snow-capped mountains, forests, and grasslands with plenty of opportunities to stop and photograph the landscape.

Nyingchi to Basomtso
After breakfast, you'll drive up to Segrila Mountain for views of Namcha Barwa peak if the weather cooperates. Then walk through Lulang Forest to see its different tree species and open meadows. Later you'll reach Biri Holy Mountain, a sacred spot covered in prayer flags with spiritual importance. End the day at Basomtso Lake where you'll stay the night and have a free meal of stone pot-cooked chicken.

Basomtso to Lhasa
Spend time exploring Basomtso Lake, a national forest park and 5A scenic area with snow mountains, waterfalls, and pastures surrounding the water. Check out Jieba Village, which offers the best views of Basomtso and the two snow peaks called 'King's Throne' and 'Burning Flames'. After that, head back to Lhasa for the 360km drive, which takes about 6 hours.

Lhasa
Start at the Traditional Handicraft Art Center where you can make Tibetan incense, try woodblock printing, and learn about Tibetan language and writing. Later head to Sera Monastery to watch monks' debates, which usually happen Monday through Saturday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm though special activities can cancel them. After that, you can wander Lhasa's streets for shopping or head back to rest at your hotel.

From there, go to Jokhang Temple, Tibet's holiest Buddhist site, which contains a statue of 12-year-old Sakyamuni. Browse Barkhor Street nearby for souvenirs like handicrafts, traditional costumes, tea, prayer wheels, and incense. You'll also get a free meal featuring Tibetan or Nepalese specialty dishes.

Lhasa to Shigatse
Drive to Kampala Pass at 4,797 meters elevation to see Yamdrok Lake and Mount Nyenchen Khangsar spread out below. Yamdrok is one of Tibet's three sacred lakes and the turquoise color is really distinctive. You'll also stop at Karola Glacier for photos and views. Then continue on to Shigatse, covering 370km in about 7 hours.

Shigatse to Lhasa
Check out Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, which serves as the seat of the Panchen Lama and Tibet's second most important reincarnation. Explore its chapels, shrines, halls, and courtyards. See the Jamkhang Chenmo and its massive 90-foot statue of Maitreya, the Future Buddha, completed back in 1914. Afterward, head back to Lhasa by train or tourist vehicle, about 270km and 5 hours.
