  Our Jewels of Andalucía & Barcelona – 7-Day Tour exceeded every expectation and turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Spain. This was our first escorted tour, and before booking we did extensive research. We found that reviews were often polarized, and it became clear that the overall experience largely depends on three things: the tour director, the local guides, and the hotel locations. We were fortunate to hit the jackpot on all three. Our tour director, Ofelia, was simply exceptional. From the moment we stepped aboard the coach, she transformed what could have been a simple sightseeing trip into an engaging journey through Spain's history, culture, architecture, and people. Her depth of knowledge was remarkable—not only about every city on our itinerary, but also about every region we traveled through. As we drove between destinations, she continually explained the historical significance of the places we were passing, connecting them to the broader story of Spain. She was organized, personable, and genuinely passionate about sharing her country with us. Quite honestly, we cannot imagine having a better tour director, and that sentiment was shared by virtually everyone on our coach. The local guides were equally outstanding. Each brought tremendous expertise, enthusiasm, and personality to their city. They provided fascinating insights that went far beyond what we could have learned on our own, answered every question with patience and grace, and made each destination come alive. We also appreciated the excellent balance between guided activities and free time. We never felt rushed, yet we always had ample opportunities to explore independently, enjoy local cuisine, shop, or simply wander through neighborhoods at our own pace. The hotels were another pleasant surprise. Every property was excellent, and their locations were thoughtfully chosen to maximize the experience. Rather than being isolated in heavily tourist-oriented areas, they placed us within easy walking distance of major attractions while also allowing us to experience authentic local neighborhoods. This not only enhanced our enjoyment of each city but also minimized transportation costs and made independent exploration incredibly convenient. Our only suggestion for improvement concerns the motor coach itself. While it was comfortable overall, a few maintenance and housekeeping issues stood out. Some seats had broken reclining mechanisms, a few seatbelt receivers were missing their plastic housings, creating sharp edges and potential snag hazards, and the coach windows were noticeably dirty on both the inside and outside. Since so much of Spain's breathtaking scenery is enjoyed from the coach, cleaner windows would significantly enhance the experience. We would recommend more proactive preventive maintenance and cleaning the windows before the tour begins and periodically throughout the journey. Overall, we were completely satisfied with every aspect of this tour. The outstanding leadership, exceptional local guides, carefully selected hotels, and well-designed itinerary combined to create an unforgettable experience. We would book this tour again without hesitation and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the beauty, history, and culture of Spain.Show more

  As a seasoned traveller, this has been by far the worst tour that I have ever taken, not due to the locations...
  As a seasoned traveller, this has been by far the worst tour that I have ever taken, not due to the locations visited, but by the tour guide and the logistics side of the tour. 1) On most tours I have taken, the guide periodically tells you about various locations along the ride, that did not happen. Instead, she (Karina) and the bus driver (we were not given his name) spoke together most of the time. Several of us English speakers would ask her questions along the ride about what we were seeing because we had never been to Spain and received responses that made no sense because she clearly didnt understand English or was simply unfamiliar with the region. In addition, the bus driver knew little English, which was fine, but he would make gestures to me (and maybe others) while getting on the bus. On one occasion, he did something and then said something in Spanish which I didnt catch so I asked him to repeat the Spanish. I went back to my phone and typed the phrase into Google translate and it meant "I'm f%$@king you". I sat in disbelief and was extremely uncomfotable after that. In my head I took it that he meant that he was trying to joke around, but I really wasnt sure - it just felt creepy. 2) Each stop that was made for bathroom breaks or lunch when moving from city to city were taken at gas stations along the highway. While this is fine for toilette breaks, it would have been much nicer to enjoy lunch in a smaller town or driving the extra 45 minutes to an hour and be presented with extra time in the location visited to have lunch there. 3) The hotels were just ok but the biggest part of that was the logistics. Most were away from the city center or historical areas which meant you walked a great deal or took Ubers or taxis. For example, our hotel in Barcelona was at the airport - a 30 minute ride at minimum by taxi or Uber. We were given a "free day" there which meant booking my own excursions which was fine, however since we were so far out, I racked ip an additional $200 + (USD) in UBER ride expenses over a 24 hour period (that was for 5 rides just to get back and forth to the excursions, which was an unexpected expense). I am a solo traveller and when I asked the front desk how to get to the Sagrada familia for example, they said "you can take a taxi or UBER as there are no trains to the city center." While the sites that we visited in each city were fantastic and the local guides did a great job, the rest of the tour was mediocre at best and quite disapointing considering the cost at $2100 USD. Look elsewhere if you can as I feel you will do better. The only reason I booked this particular tour was because the dates aligned with my travel time needs. Truly a disappointing experience.Show more
