  It was an amazing experience. My only complaint is the AC in the 2 hotels that we stayed. There were no AC but we could have been informed at least. It was so hot and I wasn’t able to sleep well even I was so tired the entire day. Our tour guide was very helpful and accommodating, Amalia was so nice and personable!!! I love our small group (6 people) which made our tour even better and easier!!!Show more

  My husband and I recently completed a 6 day tour of Switzerland, a Rabbi tour booked through Get Your Guide. Our guide, Phillippa, lacked even the most basic "guiding" skills. She provided very little information about each city/location's highlights, or local history (unless she could find it on Wikipedia on her phone). She also spent a very limited time directly guiding the group (we were only 4 people). She would lead us to a location to provide background but almost immediately send us on our own when she ran out of the few basic things she knew of each site. This lack of engagement was obvious to the four paid participants as well as two of our three drivers (Andrew, then Peter) who each stepped up in a big way most days, to supply the kind of information and insights that she couldn't. The time of year became problematic for some scheduled or suggested activities. There was still snow in the mountain areas which made walking very difficult or impossible (ie. At Rigi we couldn't walk to the cheese factory/shop). We were provided options a few times such as in Grindelwald (day 2) but what was concerning to us all was that every option proposed was at a considerable additional cost. Our guide didn't present in advance what the purpose for the day was, or that all of the choices were not included in our prepayment. She seemed amazed when we all rejected the options/additional costs. Although a beautiful spot, it seemed unreasonable to go there when the day didn't include any of these "optional" activities (ie, gondola or 'lifts'). Our guide also seemed unaware of time constraints that might occur. For example, with our afternoon arrival in St. Gallen, the recommendation was to see the Library, but it was closed to entry by the time we got there. We missed that opportunity by 2 minutes because our tour schedule was not aligned with the opening times. Our drivers, on numerous occasions, came up with alternatives to the program which "saved the day" (ie, Weissbach Falls). They also recognized that the guide's schedule for each day was not representative of the areas we were visiting and they helped by suggesting additional sites along the way. We believe this could be a good tour, but we were disappointed in the tour presentation and components provided by the guide as well as the lack of detail in the program outline. As a result there was no easy way we could ensure program accountability for these extra costs or if there were missed activities. In our previous tour experiences, it is usually the knowledge and experience of the guide that "fills in the blanks" and creates a cohesive and rich experience for those who had paid for that opportunity. In this case it felt like the 4 paid participants were on their own to share the experience. No history, no cultural connections, no special moments based on personal experience. It was not that we disliked Philippa but she was either new to the tour or to these parts of Switzerland and instead of expressing that lack of experience she kept asking the participants "what do you want to do"?Show more
