Itinerary
- Day 1
Deer Lake to Corner Brook
You'll arrive in Deer Lake and pick up your rental car for the drive to Corner Brook. This coastal town serves as your introduction to Newfoundland and Labrador, and you'll settle in here for your first night. The drive gives you a chance to get oriented with the landscape and your vehicle before exploring further.

Corner Brook to Cow Head
Head out toward Cow Head, a quiet coastal village tucked into Gros Morne National Park. The drive takes you through some nice backcountry terrain. Once you arrive, you can spend the afternoon wandering the beaches, taking in the water views, and getting a feel for the local character at your own pace.

- Day 3
Gros Morne National Park
You'll take a scenic boat tour on Bonne Bay to see Gros Morne National Park from the water. Look up for bald eagles hunting in the fjord, and you'll get close views of the Tablelands, those flat-topped rock mountains that geologists find so interesting because the geology is exposed from deep in the earth's mantle. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has some of the best scenery in the region.

Cow Head to Gander
Drive through Central Newfoundland to reach Gander, the town that became known worldwide after the Broadway musical Come From Away. At the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, you can look through historical artifacts and learn about Gander's significance in transatlantic aviation during the 20th century. The collection tells the story of how important this remote location became to international travel.

Gander to Clarenville
Travel along the rocky coastline of Notre Dame Bay to the outport town of Twillingate. You'll check out Long Point Lighthouse and the Prime Berth Fishery and Heritage Centre while watching for local wildlife. From there, continue through Terra Nova National Park to Clarenville, where you'll stay for the next two nights and have time to rest.

Bonavista - Trinity
This morning you'll head to Bonavista, historically significant as the landing point where John Cabot arrived in North America back in 1497. Visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site to learn how the light keepers lived and worked in this remote location. Later, drive to Trinity, a charming town with 18th-century buildings and old streets to walk around and explore at a leisurely pace.

Clarenville to St. John's
Continue south to St. John's, North America's oldest city and the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador. This historic seaport sits on granite cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, and it'll be your home for the next two nights. The setting is dramatic, with the landscape dropping down to the harbor in the heart of the city.

- Day 8
St. John's
Start with a boat tour into the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to search for puffins and other seabirds. This is one of the highlights of your trip, and the boat gets you close to the colonies. After that, head to Cape Spear National Historic Site, the most easterly point in North America. Spend the rest of your afternoon walking around St. John's on your own, checking out neighborhoods and shops.

St. John's Departure
